We've had this conversation before, but again I do think it's a valid critique that she hasn't spoken up about it and people are allowed to voice that. Bey is political by nature and I don't think it's unintentional. The cold reality is all of our faves are morally corrupt in varying degrees that's just the nature of being a celeb who has wealth and power.

The issue I have with this whole situation however is we are quickly seeing a snowball effect of this topic becoming stan war fodder and I do not like it at all. People boycotting or promoting certain artists, who has or hasn't spoken up, how are YOU as an individual aiding the people of Palestine by yelling in the echo chamber that is Twitter? Or better yet, why are we not directing this passion this anger towards the event distributors themselves? Ticketmaster, the stadium owners, these are the true people that hold the power within the system. What Ed and Pink are doing is pathetic and cowardly and there is critique to be had over what they've done, but I feel like the collective group is not rallying for the right problem or enemy in this situation.

But at the end of the day, all discussion is good discussion because we are seeing higher powers actively trying to deny or erase the blatant genocide and propaganda happening in front of our eyes. Idk what the right idea is, but I think at the core it wouldn't hurt for her to speak about it. At this point we should all be aware that people hate her regardless of what she does.

I've had friends get mad at other friends for not posting about Palestine, even when the person who didn't post rarely uses social media and has a private account with fewer than 500 followers. The reality is that many people dress themselves up in the cause because it gives them a pedestal from which to look down on others. You need only look at the deserved but outsized lashings Pink and Ed Sheeran are getting while Robert Kraft and his vile, genocidal billionaire cohorts continue to live their lives free of consequence.

Beyoncé should speak up, and I really wish she would. But at this point, even if she does mention it on act iii, people who don't like her will say "Too little, too late, co-opting the cause," etc etc. Stans will respond by saying, "SHE ONLY SPEAKS THROUGH HER MUSIC; IT WAS THE PLAN ALL ALONG. Y'ALL ARE NEVER HAPPY"

And we'll go round and round in the culture wars while very little actionable change is done to help the people of Palestine.

She already got dragged this year for speaking through her music. She basically profits from her political stances. I personally don't care but that's what the antis argue so I don't think it's a good idea to mention it on act iii. And definitely don't make a corny ass Instagram post. Her best bet is to make a large and silent donation and let the internet buzz for 48 hours before moving on.

lol I was thinking about this mega viral tiktok from some white dude who started a trend about unfollowing silent celebs. He would post daily who everyone should mass unfollow. His very first video was about unfollowing Beyonce and 2 other randos. For being so irrelevant to them I was shocked that he mentioned her before Taylor.

i agree with most of what everyone is saying about wishing beyonce would speak up. I've long since given up on that, especially if you seen some of their actions these past few years and some of Jay's business dealings and statements are just EMPTY and oblivious. She spoke up during BLM but all of that feels performative now, because MLK and Malcom weren't just about words, it was about action as well. Their literal premise was a threat to justice anywhere is a threat to justice EVERYWHERE. So when you can't speak up against a genocide, then I'd rather have her not say anything at all.

She may have scrapped act iii tone wise because of the controversies the past couple of years. So im curious to see what happens

I'm currently thinking about the blind woman who sued Beyonce in 2019 because her website wasn't accessible to blind people. I wonder how much money she won from the case and if she's still a fan.

Of all things to worry about seeing I wouldn't put that clunky yahoo bing site on my priority list. Wishing her well

Very well put, I especially love "many people dress themselves up in the cause because it gives them a pedestal from which to look down on others." part. It's been my observation as well since the genocide started. "Performative" is a good word to describe it as well. It's easy to bully, cancel, call out and shame regular people and celebrities which have little to no power to change things rather than people who have actual power to influence change like billionaire CEOs and presidents of countries.

Yes, Bey should speak up because she has a huge platform and it will at least raise awareness. But those people's energy should not be focused on her or Ed Sheeran for that matter...

Oh, energy damn well should be placed on Ed Sheeran. It's one thing deciding not to speak out, and it's a whole other thing to be complicit in actively trying to silence those who are.

Just to chime in what personally irked me about yesterday:

I think we all understand why Beyoncé doesn't speak about any global issue besides those which are tied to the Black Experience in the US.

However there is a difference between understanding the "why" and stating one is "glad" she's not speaking up. That's a horrible stance to me.

Im thankful for any person who uses their voice in an honest manner to shed light on the situation in for instance Gaza and calls out the evil actions. People are mass murdered in the cruelest way and the same people who commit these acts and/or enrich themselves through those acts are protected by those in power. Anybody who rises above that, calls that out, and stands for humanity should be praised. And there is a way to do that that does not feel dishonest or performative (see Dua Lipa for instance).

True, he did everything wrong in that situation and it did not have to be like that at all, could've been an easy dub for him and he ran in a completely different direction

Bey is one of the biggest celebrities right now only behind Taylor, so she has a huge target on her back. Add to that that she is also black (racism+bigotry) and extremely talented (envy), so she is getting it from all sides with people wanting something from her (like use her platform to speak up) or trying to cancel her

Given Bey has publicly spoken out about multiple overseas disasters and catastrophes, I am ashamed that even BeyGood has been silent about support for Palestine. I believe she is a good person who cares about suffering, and I wouldn't be shocked if she's donated to the cause in private, but something public - even if it's through her foundation - should have been shared by now (in my opinion).

That being said, this Kraft story seems to indicate that American stadium owners don't like to see advocacy for Palestinians, and stadiums are her venue of this current moment, so I guess that could explain her silence? Regardless, she's powerful enough that I'm sure if she wanted to, she could do something. And maybe she already has! But it would be nice if it was bolder.

IF she were to speak on it, the last chance is on Act 3. She would never isse a statement, post about it on IG, etc. It's always through her music.

Act 3 being rock (if that's still a thing for her) is the perfect way to go.

If she doesn't allude to anything through her music on that album, it will never come (most probably won't come but I can still dream)

It's not always through her music...

I could go on.

Her silence isn't just disappointing, it's out of character from the woman we understand her to be, or rather, who she presents herself to be.

It's not out of character. It's exactly her character. She looks out for her bag first and foremost.

It's particularly disappointing knowing that her own (now former) creative director has direct ties to Palestine. I am very confident that her stance on the issue is the correct one. I am very confident she is an anti-zio. Really hope she expresses that during the next tour at least, even if it's through symbolism.

I do wonder if we'll get Act III in Q1 of next year.

That Rolling Stone article was interesting. Definitely seems like a PR plant.

Beyonce is an easy target, which is why "activists" tend to end up knocking on her unanswered door.
