I listened to it today on the way back from the shop and idk how anyone can dislike it. She's mad as hell like genuinely psychotic over some pots and pans car noises. Perfection on an already stacked album. One of her most unusual, truly experimental songs and relatable lyric content don't cancel me

like, while everyone was shocked at DAUGHTER, true Hive knew that operatic vocals are nothing new for her. But on ALL UP IN YOUR MIND she's giving us a kind of vocal totally fresh to our ears. The fact that she, 25+ years into her career was still doing something like that is brilliance on its own.

That's exactly what I was thinking about today too when listening! It's sooo unusual and I remember finding it so jarring because she didn't sound like herself. It must have been pretty special for her to do something so out of the ordinary so I get the feeling she must really like it.

I have this dream she's going to randomly pop up on an AG Cook or someone adjacent's album one day as a feature with no prior announcement and everyone gags. It would be so fun to hear her do more of that sound and vocal delivery.

What makes me SO sad about Renaissance is that it was a concept album for her, does that mean we will never album like that from her again? I need her to expand on those sounds.

The Manon debacle made me realize that being compared to Beyoncé is a bit of a death sentence like damn! Her fans are deluding themselves into thinking shes gonna be the new "Bey" and its like can we aim a bit more realistically? It makes me so sad though, so many of the new black girls just do not have the things Bey needed to truly become who she is today, and i dont mean her good given talent, more so the endless amounts of industry events that were occuring during her early days that molded her to being what she is today. Normani, Manon, Chloe and whoever else just never stood a chance because Bey just did and went through so much that prepared and made her savvy about everything. These girls get one hate train and some messy industry politics and they fall apart. Black stan twitter needs to stop setting these girls up, the building blocks that made Bey just dont exist anymore, she is sadly the last of her kind and i genuinely dont mean this in a psycho stan way, its just way too different these days.

In a way we did get some Renaissance soundscape and innovation on CC.

Desert Eagle, Riverdance, SHB, Tyrant, 2H2H are all so experimental.

I must admit that the second half of Renaissance did not immediately click with me on first listen. Took me like 3 listens to truly GET Renaissance.

I think its her most experimental album by far!

Being compared to Beyonce is 100% a dead sentence, because the amount of pressure and how it puts you immediately in a box is just crazy. Also, as you mentioned it's a completely different era for the music industry and these girls won't get half as much opportunities of centralized media to be pushed forward. Our attention is too fragmented into too many channels to have phenomenons like Beyonce rise up again, even if they're crazily talented.

These stans only know the history from Matthew Knowles point of view. Beyonce been was working behind the scenes trying to make it with girls tyme since 1990. Bey was rehearsing since a kid. Like there are so many videos of her from the early 90's. Also Destiny's child been was recording songs way before 1997. They went through a ton of battles trying to get signed and then when they would get signed they would get dropped because of tension with Bey dad or other issues. Bey and her group was supposed to come out at the same time as Brandy, Monica and Aaliyah. Bey watched so many artist artist make it before her even though she was recording in the booth at the same time as them other artist. Plus Beyonce never let that stop her from working Hard AF. Bey had ambition since an early age and was trained by her daddy. These new stars don't have the same ambition. Also in order to be the next Beyonce you need to be a ******* vocalist. Dancing and being cute is not enough!

Agree. I wonder if she listens to that album back and realises how free she sounded. Exploring electronic music seemed to be filled with so much joy for her.

We should've never let Black Is King flop the way it did - that must've truly GOTTEN to her. I even remember Ms Tina posting about it and how Bey only had the best intentions. Ugh, only because of some dumb marketing decisions along the way (like naming the album "The Gift" )

I think she got annoyed with people thinking she lent on visuals as a crutch although I really don't think they did. Or maybe she felt a bit trapped by the expectation. And then she saw the reaction to Rennie and thought maybe I don't even need this I'll let the music speak for itself
