The Amy Poehler one would be amazing. I love how she treats her guests. It would be slightly off-brand for her though, I think. But I'd love it!

If flopping gets to her, then that is all on her. If she cares about arts and not the charts that is all fine, but don't expect to have huge numbers for everything either.

When you say "like she used to with her music" do you really mean "when Mathew was managing her career"? (And/or when she was still using his playbook to market herself?) Because at this point SHE had not been "spamming the **** out of" her music since 2011, eight years prior. She clearly cares little about charts considering it's been seven years since The Gift was released and still barely mentions her work after it's released.

Well you got me here...cuz Freedom at BET Awards is legit one of my fav performances of all time. ST still deserves AOTY more than Lemonade tho-

Yes thanks I know that. I was responding to a comment that said The Gift flopping got to her, but if that were true then she would be out there pushing her work more, which she doesn't do so evidently she doesn't care about its commercial performance.

ya, whether or not we think it's a good or bad thing (most fans think bad), her influence and impact cannot be understated in this regard.

I think her tactics, while potentially harmful to overall success and certainly less fun for fans, was a brilliant prediction of where the industry was heading: a time where direct access to fans would be faster than ever, where word of mouth was more impactful than tv interviews, and that the public would incredibly be able to press play within a second's notice.

I agree, I think its a new paradigm in the music industry. Major artistes realise they don't need to waste so much money promoting their new music when they have a solid and sizeable fanbase that are at least loyal. In another way I think it's kind of a reverse consumption strategy where artists make themselves a scarcity to increase demand similar to what exists in the CD/physical record sales era.

It just came to me the other day, Lemonade is probably the best visually realized era through its performances of all time. Using the biggest platforms, taking a shot every single time.

Not top 5, but it's one of her most underrated songs. Great vocal delivery, the flute incorporation was new for her and the brass section fit perfectly. I know it's for a lot of fans symbolic of her unfavourable „Mama Africa" era, but it felt honest and authentic to me and it worked.
