They always repeat the same thing! Could even make a calendar. For example, they bring up Aalyah to talk about Beyoncé twice a year. This is annoying.

I think people now realise how hard it is to come out with a KILLER debut single. As it seemed pretty common in the late 90s and early 2000s. Crazy in Love is such a great example of that. We also forget how Beyoncé was perceived during that time. It wasn't great. She was getting a lot of flack for how the line up changes were managed. But Kelly had just smashed with Dilemma and B had flopped with Work It Out. It was a weird time. B's foray into acting was pretty criticised too. To come out with Crazy in Love was such a powerful STAMP both commercially and critically.

But you can also feel interference from her label and management (in a good way in this instance). B clearly recorded and RnB and Soul record but stacking the front end with pop hits smells like Matthew Knowles. In some ways I wish this album had just gone ALL IN on pop, and then pivoted to B'Day.

That being said, the back end is so underrated and I love songs like Signs, Yes, Be With You, Gift From Virgo and Me, Myself and I - but they sort of sound like a different project.

The songs that I would probably cut: Hip Hop Star (I grew to like this but it doesn't fit and I hate the features), Daddy, The Closer I Get To You, That's How I Like It (LOVE this song but doesn't fit to me).

Regardless, this album is a CLASSIC. Listening from to back is a great experience.

P.S.

I also loved it when B and DC would repeat choruses over and over and over again and B would just let rip with ad libs - sometimes I think she now rushes through songs and doesn't give them enough space to breathe.

P.P.S I listened to Me, Myself & I 3 times before I moved on. I can see a rock ballad version of this for act 3 tour!

Beyoncé hate is on every corner of the internet and the stuff they spew even they don't believe. They will spread lies on lies and conspiracies just to bring her down to earth. I always use Beyoncé as a baseline and their assessment of her reflects their character and intelligence (or lack thereof).

It's a really great way to filter people.
