Madison Beer - 'locket'

Featured Replies

I also like that she participates in producing her own music but an issue her music has for me is that if she had a legendary/professional producer the mixing would be better. Like sometimes I listen to a song "Bad Enough" for example, and think the blending in the chorus could be better and more harmonious. The issue with her music a lot of the time is it feels like a novice created it. The songs have potential but the execution falls flat often.

LOSTBOY brings out the best in her, Leroy Clampitt is a one trick pony and he needs to GO!

for me it works

  1. locket theme

  2. angel wings

  3. bad enough

  4. bittersweet

  5. complexity

  6. make you mine

  7. yes baby

  8. for the night

  9. healthy habit

  10. nothing at all

  11. you are still everything

this way album would slap

the tracklist i'll be using

  1. 15 minutes

  2. make you mine

  3. complexity

  4. murphy's law

  5. locket theme

  6. bad enough

  7. you're still everything

  8. for the night

  9. nothing at all

  10. yes baby

  11. all at once

  12. healthy habit

  13. lovergirl

  14. alone

bittersweet, girl and angel wings can all choke. rediscover still has to grow on me and i'm being benevolent with for the night and nothing at all here because the album would be too short otherwise

complexity proves that she can make personal songs with artistic value while having fun and interesting production, nothing at all proves that she can make midtempos without them sounding like funeral music, she'll never breakthrough if she keeps making music this bland and faceless

just getting around to this and while you can spot exactly who each song sounds like, they're really good productions, i like her as a singer, i can imagine getting into this in a low effort sort of way (or even actually getting really obsessed with it tbh)

it's very ariana i keep thinking, and then i think "i love ariana!" so that's fine

idk i'm halfway through and I feel nothing? it's cute but nothing stands out if that makes sense

The "she should go full on pop diva 1!!1!1" angle never made sense to me lol, even from a success standpoint her top songs on Spotify are bittersweet, Reckless, Selfish, etc all of which are slower/mid-tempo songs. MYM was clearly a one-off that she was never able to repeat seeing how 15 Minutes and yes, baby both flopped.

This kinda feels like an inferior Life Support anyway, I like the mid-tempo songs normally (angel wings & bad enough are both great) but the production feels less fleshed out here compared to songs like Showed You, Silence Between Songs (s), HTAO or most of LS

I haven't listened to this in full but I can see why people online say she does cosplay. I think having a variety of musical styles in your discography is usually a good thing but I think that having key aspects about your musical or visual aesthetic helps keep everything consistent and / or helps the artist stand out among every one else. For example with Zara Larsson at the moment it's the colourful aesthetic.

i also think someone like zara has a very distinctive voice, she comes over as a real performer and there's a few pop girls like that where their vocal tone is the thing that gives them more personality. madison has a nice tone, a lot of these songs are really good, but that's something where i feel she falls down a bit

i actually think it's songs like make you mine and yes baby where she does manage to stand out a bit and her voice really suits them but it's looking pretty clear that she doesn't want to go all the way down that road. and that's fine i guess cos the material is still good here but also it's a bit surprising that she doesn't seem to have a sound that she's fighting for now? i mean, her old style material was very lana-lite i thought but it sounded like what she wanted to be doing

I also don't understand her artistic vision with autotune I'll say that rip Some really good songs of her have been ruined by it:

Dear Society

you're still everything

Blue

like I need her to stop rip

I do think this is her weakest album but i still think it's good. Her branding is really bad! Her team is doing a bad job at her making her stand out!

I'm guessing the ballad thing is her thing? We know we will get an emotional ballad from her! She really dropped the ball not carrying on the dance pop, i feel like it's the only time she actually got attention!

This has grown on me a lot on repeated listens. I actually really like the album now. clap3I ordered a vinyl.

I just listened to two songs and one sounded straight Ariana and the other sounded straight Billie rip

The track run from "bad enough" to "bittersweet" was gorgeous. "you're still everything" is my personal fav, what a devastating track.

she had her own techno-trance pop thing going on with make you mine but went back to faceless ariAnaL rejects. SAD !

shakeno

I am considering to purchase a vinyl from the net if I cannot find a copy in person (I live abroad). I really enjoy this more than I thought.

You're still everything is hauntingly beautiful and surprisingly my favorite. However, i still wish she went into the darker pop theatrical sound she started off with.

She fell off so hard since her debut. There she had substance. She touched on topics her peers wouldn't, but the aim to be commercial dampened her appeal and creativity.

She might as well be Sabrina Carpenter.
