I enjoyed the album a lot. I don't really mind the length. I feel like the album is very cohesive. Y'all were talking about the album like there were only ballads, which is not the case. The album gives you a little bit of everything and it doesn't come off as boring.

i feel like the most and misused words on this site are always "ballads" and "country" rip

Madison obviously doesn't want to be this huge pop girlie they want her to be and just wants to release the music she wants to make after being stuck in label hell with Island. Like i'm not saying a cute little "dark" pop album wouldn't be cute, but i'm tired of people pretending albums are bad or "mid" bc not every girlie wants to make oontz oontz music and people don't want to sit with albums any more and want to have a rushed opinion after barely listening to it once. Her mid tempos are usually her strongest and the most prevalent in her discography so idk why people are so confused. I think she made her intentions quite clear in what she wants to do. idk how it's not clicking yet

that being said: i feel like with make you mind and 15 minutes she was going in that direction with the EP but she scrapped everything and started over after her break up.

I think this is perhaps her most "generic" album in terms of the songs sounding similar to other pop girls (Ariana, Billie, Sabrina), but at the same time it is her catchiest and easiest to listen to.

SBS had far more filler that I never returned to after the first few listens. This feels more like a solid and concise pop album that I could play on repeat anytime.

If she doesn't make conplexity a single she hates her career

I agree, if it isn't a super upbeat song, everyone already labels everything as a ballad, that's nonsense

I saw a tiktok the other day asking why is she trying to be the girl next door so hard when she looks that hot. She should be serving thank u next both in image and music. There a huge audience for music like that

This is an interesting take because she's got so much crap just for "being hot and having no personality"

The EDM sound seemed promising but you can tell her heart was not in it. Make You Mine still feels like her. 15 Minutes, All At Once, and Yes Baby felt forced upon her even if they are some of her best songs. I think she's unsure of what to do to keep growing as an artist.

She should just focus on pure pop. I don't get it, she clearly has a sweet spot there, even on this album: You're Still Everything, Bad Enough, Complexity.

Yes, Baby is not great. She clearly doesn't care to make dance music. Angel Wings is too Ariana. For The Night is very Billie. I don't get why it's so hard for her to carve out a lane. It's obvious she likes her ballads/mid-tempos. Maybe she could move in a more Swedish pop Cardigans-type sound.

It's funny how the producer was like "The vision for Locket was not always clear..." lmao It's obvious, but it's not a bad album.

ok but I need a full album in the vein of Angel Wings' outro.
I hope there are other songs like these on the album.

I LOVE it

Surprisingly though, I like angel wings' intro a lot but as it went on I liked it less, I think its the lyrics... it'll grow on me. The rest of the album till complexity is quintessential Madison. Bad enough is soooooo good. complexity is cute but feels out of place production-wise

All of you begging for upbeat pop songs when she found her lane ages ago are so aceyou must be new MYM/YB fans who don't know her for much else... this is a good follow up to Silence Between Songs, her lyricism coupled with the dreamy vocals in her ballads are great, this is what she likes making and she's damn good at it

I think the dreamy ballad sound is who she really is. That's why she's insisted upon it for multiple albums now.

I don't think she found her lane. I think she found her comfort zone. This album felt like her trying to balance what fans wanted from her (more upbeat electronic songs) and what she likes making (dreamy slower songs). And although I do like some of her dreamy ballads, both this album and Silence Between Songs had too many of them. I loved her debut but was so disappointed when Silence Between Songs came out and most of that album was slow pretty sad songs and there was barely anything similar to Home To Another One (which was another sound that worked really well for her- I'd actually much rather her explore that sound further instead of upbeat EDM). The whole dreamy ballad thing is just not a sound that works well when it's done back to back to back on one album imo. It makes listening to it from front to back a bit dragged. She has too much potential for that to be her signature sound.

this is actually my favorite album of hers on first listen, Angel Wings, Bad Enough and Complexity are my faves so far, not counting the singles... I also added 15 Minutes as track 6 to add one extra uptempo bop and Idk if it flows well but it works for me, lol

For me it's definitely her best album. I wish she was for a more upbeat route (hopefully next album), but she shines a lot in this style.

thank u for being the only person with some sense cause the takes i've been seeing….

the only critique i really have is that she should definitely start working with different producers bc that would push her more & flesh out a way different sound with ease

i personally really enjoy the album though and i'm gonna keep digging into it b4 i rly form an opinion

I just added all at once and 15 minutes to it and they balance the slower tempo side so well. with these two tracks added I like the album quite a bit tbhheart lovergirl and murphys law are such a great tracks, I would've loved them on this album over a few duds. the album is much much better than sbs, but personally would've loved more electronic productions like 15 minutes, all at once, make you mine, complexity, you're still everything, murphy's law, rediscover etc. to make it more cohesive.

been listening to this only a day and a half and the ranking still fluctuates a bit but currently looking like this

  • you're still everything

  • complexity

  • (lovergirl)

  • 15 minutes

  • (murphy's law)

  • all at once

  • make you mine

  • yes baby

  • nothing at all

  • bittersweet (acoustic)

  • angel wings

  • for the night

  • bittersweet

locket theme, healthy habit, bad enough are just skips for me atm and bad enough (acoustic) is just fine

i had never ever in my entire life listened to her music but i've had this album on repeat this evening clap3

wanted to make an alt cover inspired by the scrapped album shoot, the angel wings track and the "effortless" tumblr eraangelo

locket-2.jpg

love Madison and her music but this album is just there for me, i love ballads and midtempos but the ones on the album are just there unlike her old ones which were really good, i love bad enough though it's the best song from the new tracks
