i'm sorry but "the fate of ophelia" is one of the best songs she's ever released. it's quite literally the perfect pop song. everything from the lyrics to the production and melody is just 10/10. past her prime my ass when she still has songs like that in her.

i see it getting bashed a lot but "eldest daughter" is one of my favorites from the album. i just love the melody in the chorus so much + that gorgeous bridge and it will stay in my head for days if i listen to it even just once. i also don't think the lyrics are as bad as people make out. i'm only iffy on the "and we looked fire" line but thankfully she only says that once throughout the whole thing! lol

"ruin the friendship" is another great song though. it's very red-coded and the plot twist made my jaw drop when i heard it for the first time.

it's just so so so good! the whole "keep it one hundred…" part of the song is so ridiculously catchy. her ear for melodies should be studied. i remember when the album first dropped and it took me so long to get to "elizabeth taylor" as i couldn't stop replaying "the fate of ophelia"

All 4 new songs are better than RTF. I knew it I knew you too. It's sooo overrated.

also @dman4life i don't know if you saw earlier, but i mentioned that somebody with a britney avatar shaded taylor's vocals and it made me laugh because of the lack of self awareness. but i don't want you to be offended by that since i see that you also have a britney avatar. i just know that she often got made fun of for lip-syncing during her live performances, so you'd think a fan of hers wouldn't use vocal ability as a drag against another artist.

that said, it was petty and childish of me and i shouldn't have given that user the time of day. i've seen that they're still posting about her today in almost every taylor thread and i shouldn't have lowered myself to their level. so it's all love from my end and i'm sorry if you did see my comment and took any offense! <3

Showgirl was never going to be an album with depth, but from TS13 through the rest of her iconic and illustrious career, I need Taylor to be dedicated to songs and albums with depth. She can still be joyful and playful as long as there is depth behind it. She is not an artist that has the luxury of being shallow.

The worst of Showgirl is like a caricature of herself, but i trust she will return to form for TS13. The ink in Travis' glitter gel pen has long since run dry, so she needs to dip into the fountain ink she used for So High School and stop playing tf around. This is all part of THE PLAN for TS13 to be a critical and commercial smasher and her 5th AOTY

All that to say that I do enjoy Cleveland! and Pink Clouding

Are we still in a hate cycle? I'm super confused on these publications ranking her deluxe. 1) when's the last time a deluxe was ranked and considered for any pop act? 2) how are they justifying ranking the deluxe lower than the base album? I'm so confused on how detached their takes are from my own. These songs are quite good (at least better than what we've gotten from Ari, Gaga, and Katy in the last year), and are being trashed across the board…

the more i listen to these tracks the weirder the outrage is becoming.. the only song i can kinda understand people hating is Cleveland!
i personally like the song but its something thats ''easy'' to hate on and the type of song lots of people hate
but the other 3 songs are 'mid' at worst but personally i'd rank them as 8/10 Patient Zero could be higher but the bridge pulls it down
Also i really do feel Babylon will be a fan favorite once everything has settled down

And of course its also just deluxe tracks after all.. people genuinely expecting a reinvention for deluxe tracks or what
