To all Arianators Not every comment is an attack or comes from a place of hate. A lot of people are expressing genuine concern about Ariana's appearance, whether you agree with it or not. Yes there are cruel body-shaming comments that deserve to be called out. But there's also a large number of people raising concerns because they think she looks unwell. Lumping those two groups together only shuts down any real conversation. Stop dismissing it.

She's turning 42 this year. There is a very very slim chance she will ever be pregnant again. Maybe through IVF.

This is actually my first and only thread about this topic.... but anyway I am allowed to express my disappointment in the direction she is taking

Why does it feel like Ariana is intentionally holding back? Where did the vocals go? Why is she nerfing herself? On Eternal Sunshine and Petal, so much of the vocal delivery is airy, whispery, soft, and restrained. The melodies are pretty, but where are the belts? Where are the insane ad libs? The vocal runs? The moments that make you stop and think only Ariana could do that? She built her career on being one of the strongest vocalists of her generation. Even when she wasn't belting the whole song, there would be at least one huge vocal moment. We are already running out of powerhouse vocalists in pop. Ariana does not need to lean so heavily into minimalist vocals. She is not Selena Gomez. There are very few artists alive who can do what she can, so why not showcase it? I raised this in the Petal thread and someone said "I actually think its cool she kinda gatekeeps lol". Gatekeep from who? Herself??? What's the benefit?

We are not enjoying it because the vocals are sounding like selena gomez and not THEEE ariana grande Icl the songs sound unfinished without any adlibs. Kinda like Supernatural on the standard CD/Vinyl.

This isn't really a fair comparison. Miley and Lana have both had commercial and critical success in the 2020s. Katy has been consistently flopping with every new release for years now. That's why the conversation around her is different and why people single her out. It's also amplified by the fact that she was a megastar and face of the 2010s. Seeing someone go from that level of dominance to repeatedly underperforming is naturally going to get people talking more than artists who are still finding success in one form or another.
