"relatable" here could be that they have also been through lots of complicated situations or they could sing about the feelings that many people experienced but couldn't put those into words/melodies. not that people have millions in the bank. like you have never been miss american dream or your derriere has never appeared in magazines, but you have made believe that someone was there with you and it's the only way that you see clear you had done something wrong, right? even rich people go through stuff
