Is "Disease" risky?

Featured Replies

She took very huge risk with no physical release, no music video release, no merchandise and no promotion.

  • A risk in the sense that this is a solo Gaga song.

  • No return to form is risky. She returned to a sound of hers that is increasingly becoming more viral, and deliberately during this time of the year, hoping it becomes a Halloween staple. No risks take

  • It has a sound reminiscent of her first two albums, making it a safe choice stylistically.  However, it's only risky because it feels like a mediocre attempt to recapture that original vibe.

No. It's sounds like a outtake from one of her old albums, and a mediocre one at that. Also, it's the same concept as The Cure. Redundant. She played it safe with this one, but then again, I don't blame her after her album and movie tanked hard.

Since you're a fan of Gags, did you actually read the lyrics on The Cure, or you've assumed so going with just a title comparison? Genuine question

Releasing dark pop song week before Halloween after flop movie and an album after less than two weeks is not risky screams more like desperation

Right, it's not as if the release was announced before said movie and album even came out.

Also, if her team were chasing Halloween streams the song would've released last week at the latest WITH the video.

It sounds like an AI attempt at recreating Gaga's past songs (Bloody Mary, Heavy Metal Lover, Mary Jane Holland). What's risky about this?

No originality and evolution whatsoever.

0/10.

What's so funny about this? All her lead singles are solo. You really think you did something there.:bibliahh:

I feel she is pacing the album rollout appropriately. "Disease" sounds like a solid lead single to me, (without it giving too much away about the rest of the album).

Well it doesn't sound like anything on the radio that's for sure so yeah

Funny how going against her popular image and the soundscape with Harlequin got no rep points among the OGHs who suddenly care about her needing to push the boundaries and ditch her old electronic past. And of corse, these are the same people who claimed DWAS was too safe and boring because it was a duet and ballad. Gaga will never please you guys because you simply won't let her.

The song was probably rush released to fit Halloween after a string of flops.

It's always risky to rush release with no plan

It's definitely not trendy and it's easy to tell they didn't tailormade it for radio so… if you're asking if she took risks with the lead, yes she did YES she did

Their mind and heart won't let them, it's all inside them.

to quote a certain atrl user, I'm inclined to say… mothaf*cka it's only sliiiightly true

it's a bit of a perfect pop single cause it's risky for the current scene in that it's kinda soundin' like nothing else released recently in the mainstream. it's unrisky, or as I'd like to say, unrisquéiana, in that it's legy world (that is to say, reminiscent of her past material in certain ways)

at the same time, what makes it poyfekt is that it's a natural progression of her most special and sanctified Classic Gaga Sound, and that what it makes it so refreshing for this moment in time. I believe that this era will be full of surprises! i don't understand anyone saying that Gaga doesn't take risks anymore in general lol cause like it's always one thing or another. sure Perfect Contusion wasn't for me, but it was for some of y'all! Disease, though, is definitely for me, and I'm not tawkin pneumonia.mp3 either honey! I'm talkin Gaga :gaygacat1:

Disease is the safest route for Gaga, she knows the GP doesn't care as much and that she should market for hyperpop fans which is exactly what she did

It was planned even before Joker premiered:

There's no rush release, desperation, or whatever narrative the OGH choose

Oh that makes it better. That means they didn't release a video or physicals because they are incompetent

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Depends on the context.

Compared to Morgan Wallen, Sabrina, and all the other basic type of music the GP listens to? Yes

In the broader context of all music? No, its not exactly Bjork type stuff.

But yes for a mainstream popstar...looking at what kind of music dominates the charts right now...its not exactly in trend. Might do better in Europe though.

No in the sense that it's very much a return-to-form, but it's definitely not catering to current trends or pop radio so that is always a risk:ryan3:
