Is "Disease" risky?

Featured Replies

Many stans, critics, and casual listeners are impressed with the new lead single of Lady Gaga titled "Disease". It's called 'a return to form with an experimental sound'.

Is it a risk-taking single?

  • A risk in the sense that this is a solo Gaga song.

  • It has a sound reminiscent of her first two albums, making it a safe choice stylistically.  However, it's only risky because it feels like a mediocre attempt to recapture that original vibe.

No in the sense that it's very much a return-to-form, but it's definitely not catering to current trends or pop radio so that is always a risk:ryan3:

It depends on which disease we're talking about. Covid is risky!

Well it doesn't fit with what is popular right now, so that's a risk I guess.

But it's not risky in the sense that Gaga has been there done that. The lyrics are iterative of like 5 of her previous songs. That doesn't scream risk to me :gaycat1:

Not really. It's a mix of BTW and ARTPOP, and it's not fresh or innovative. Doesn't stand out in her discography.

Its very risky. She's the first one in this decade to come with a strong electronic industrial single.
Hope it doesnt ruin the chances of the single :gaycat4: is very maximalist

The typical of today is releasing minimalistic Synthpop, Disco and Country songs :giraffe:
