Is "Disease" risky?

Featured Replies

Yes

especially since it sounds nothing like anything that is trendy on the radio these days

  • A risk in the sense that this is a solo Gaga song.

  • No return to form is risky. She returned to a sound of hers that is increasingly becoming more viral, and deliberately during this time of the year, hoping it becomes a Halloween staple. No risks take

  • It has a sound reminiscent of her first two albums, making it a safe choice stylistically.  However, it's only risky because it feels like a mediocre attempt to recapture that original vibe.

:ahh:

She's doing fan service by going back to her old sound because she couldn't afford evolving at this point?... so she dropped a song that could be added to Born This Way today.

"Going back to her roots" is such a lame excuse for playing it safe.

By the way, the song is good... because she was good back then as well so...

Despite the ugly imagery that drives the sing promotion it is an usual pop record, geepee is desensitized to "dark pop" after The Weeknd and Billie Elish so

It's clearly a pop song, and matches the signature sound of the artist, but it's also a little bit annoying and abrasive, so it's a little risky yes.

It's neither. It's a return to form which is a bit safe but at the same time it doesn't fit with the what's trend on the charts and radio right now.

Releasing dark pop song week before Halloween after flop movie and an album after less than two weeks is not risky screams more like desperation

It's GOOD, it doesn't have to be risky. It's the lead single.

It's certainly no 'not myself tonight' but risks are there

Exactly this

:lmao: never change OGH

Sure, the song is safe and generic! You can sleep well now! It's been a difficult 24h :hughard:

No. It's sounds like a outtake from one of her old albums, and a mediocre one at that. Also, it's the same concept as The Cure. Redundant. She played it safe with this one, but then again, I don't blame her after her album and movie tanked hard.

It's not particularly risky but it's also not the safest sound for a lead? If she really wanted to pander to radio, I'm not saying it would work, but she could go with something more trend-riding and clean cut. This is obviously her returning to the darker pop sounds of her earlier career with some rock influence, I think it's exactly the sound we should be getting and what a lot of her base wants :jonny:

The Accelerate erasure

No. But one could make a case that it's risky to release something that sounds like it was made in 2009-2010 when that sound has basically been unpopular for these last few years.

That's the sound with which she got her biggest hits (PF, BR…) and it is Halloween. That's not risky but no one cares, artists do not have to take risks all of the time.

I think it's a little bit industrial for the charts but she's had success with that sort of sound before (though that was at the height of her fame). It's more risky than Chromatica but less Risky than Harlequin I guess.
