Chloe is on the verge of losing all the momentum shes gathered up until Have Mercy. For the last half year, shes been on a steady decline. She NEEDS a moment and we all know Bey would complete wash the ceremony if she decided to make her comeback performance there

That being said, im still opting for the following:

- maybe a teaser anouncement or a preview for the MV dropping Tuesday

- a "a special with Beyonce" a la Adele during album release where she really takes us to the world of Renaissance

I think there will, more realistically, be a BET "something". She will either premiere the video at the show or tease it. A commercial will run. A something.

At the same time, rational/logical thinking had us all convinced nothing was coming until Q4 or Q1 next year, yet here we are with a whole bop of a single and an album dropping next month.

My brother that HATES Beyonce is even singing BMS.

I think this will be a worldwide hit, a global hit, a continental hit, a universal hit, a multi-generational hit, a hit with the animals, a hit with the ghosts, a hit with satan and GOD. Just a multi-versal HIT with all entities.

Stability when it comes to streams (on all platforms) despite new releases, great radio updates all around the world... This has all the momentum going for becoming a major smasha

Seeing these NEWER current artists like Lil Nas X, The Weekend, Dua/Megan, Gaga, etc. doing less numbers than Bey and people have the audacity to come for her streams... this forum is truly in the pits. :rip:

Anyway, I was listening to Hung Up by Madonna and just hoped for Bey to have a banger like that. I hope the album has more melodic hooks particularly in her higher register, I've noticed a trend of her straying away from catchy hooks post-Lem. :rip: BMS deserved a key-change climax at the end, I just feel like it was missing something. The live version will pull thru. :duca:

I'm gonna be yelled at again but the loss of momemtum for Chloe's solo is solely on Parkwood/Columbia

No offense to Chloe, I like her a lot but Bey botching the promo and roll out of BMS for her would kinda aggravate me and I'm not generally Chart Hive

:gaycat6:

chloe is there to scratch the r&b itch cuz this album is gonna full on dance music. normani victoria monet etc. too

I still think Chloe went solo too early, Chloe X Halle were JUST gaining mainstream footing, they were booking shows for the first time and Do It was their first single to chart on the Hot 100.

She also failed to book any major collabs before hand like Normani (Sam Smith & Khalid).

She's basically starting from scratch. A big part of leaving a group for solo success is coming from a huge girl group, and more often than not as a leading lady.

Nicole couldn't even secure a successful solo career after the PCD, Camilla came and went and Normani hasn't happened yet (lbr).

The only women to do it successfully have been Diana Ross and Beyoncé. Diana's mold is too old, she went solo in 1970 (pre-streaming, hell pre-MTV, she's from the era of American Bandstand and the Ed Sullivan show :skull:). And even Beyoncé's mold is dated now, she came up during TRL and 106 & Park.

They're fumbling the bag with Chloe 100%. She doesn't have that many chances left.

I'm in agreement that ideally I'd like a key change too. I want to hear those SOARING vocals Edward mentioned in the Vogue article, but I would guess they are coming?

In some ways though I feel that because Bey doesn't give a key change here the song becomes more addictive, like you never fully get the release you're looking for, which kind of works with the lyrics/message of the song with the protaganist going towards something (happiness, etc.) they do not yet know how they'll achieve while having faith in yourself nonetheless.

I know maybe that's a stretch but I believe Beyoncé is that intention with her work, especially where vocal production is concerned, which is her domain.

On the Hooked On Pop podcast they were analyzing Hold Up and mentioned how the entire song (its melody, beat, etc.) builds up to something, a likely release, and then the countdown sample comes in which is so hype and signals some sort of change/beat drop/etc., but then after that it just goes back into the plodding of the instrumental how it was. They cited this as a technique for Beyoncé to set up a sonic story with the meaning of the song where she's in this state of confusion and "craziness" and there is no relief...that comes next with Don't Hurt Yourself where all the tension built in Hold Up finally gets released.

Agreed which is a pity for a girl with that kind of talent

stop releasing these flop ads songs.

OT: Bey needs to just do what she needs to do and send Chloe well wishes.

What do you mean she doesn't have many chances left though? Is the public that vindictive to deny Chloe stardom at any point, just because she didn't achieve it fast enough? I think so long as she puts out something the public latches onto, she can still become a star. Until then, she may just be in a tier below the average popstar, which isn't even SO bad.

The only thing would be if Beyoncé gives up on her, but I don't see that happening at all. Parkwood already has given Chloe x Halle like...100x the budget and oppurtunities that any other label would have given them relative to their success. Do It being their first Hot 100 single over 2 albums and 2 EPs (and at #63) is really not the great stats that would have acts continue to get music videos, bookings, amazing productions for live performances, etc.

I do think Beyoncé has a bit of an old-school mindset about managing her acts, putting more importance on their own artistry and doing what they do well than success, and whether that helps or hinders Chloe is another question, but it also allows her to create a brand, a base, a legacy on her own vs. being only as good as her last hit. Think someone like Patti LaBelle, who really only had like 2-3 solo hits in her career (and her only #1 being a duet) yet she's highly respected, beloved, and legendary. This is what I mean about an old-school-way of managing.... seeing the potential and just honing it.

THAT BEING SAID I do agree that I think Chloe x Halle should/could've had one more era under their belt before solo...they're SO good and they were building a great momentum, it would've been nice to see what they'd do next knowing they were going to go solo temporarily for a bit (or maybe that was what Ungodly Hour was)...but ya, a third album would've been perfect.

Edited by swissman

I agree that Chlöe went solo WAYY too early. Ungodly Hour was essentially their debut album to the masses. It became a cult classic and got them their first chart hit. Their next era would’ve been bigger and put them even closer to real stardom.

I’m certain Chlöe only went solo so soon because she felt the need to not be left behind when TLM comes out, which will obviously be Halle’s big breakout.

!!!!! never really saw it for that girl like that. chloe x halle >> chloe solo

Now with that being said; I don’t think Chloe would’ve went solo if Halle never booked TLM. I can understand that she would want to stay busy and out there while her sister is filming a whole movie.

but now that that’s been done maybe it’s time to bring the band back together.
