Have you ever met a gay man that went through the whole mess of marriage and then divorce?

I feel like I have never seen this, not in person, I think I have ever only read a story about it online

for me it's all gay men who were married to a woman then got divorced and realised they were gay

Im divorced. We were together for 10 years. It was a clean separation without drama so theres no bad blood between us. We check in on each other every once in a while

I chalk it up to us meeting when we were young and unexperienced. As I strove to feel more grounded, I realized we were both acquiescing too much of ourselves over the years, to keep the other happy, without even realizing it. Such is life

Yea for sure. I went on a couple dates with a guy who was divorced by 27. Another guy I know of was divorced after a dead sex life.

I don't think I even know many married gays, never mind divorced. I can think of one married couple I know that is still together, but they have an open relationship.

Gay men follow the same process as straggots for asset division. Typically, each person gets a lawyer, summarizes all assets and debts and go back and forth until there is a clear agreement on who gets what. It's presented to a judge who signs off on everything, after asking about the rationale for how things are divided. The judge will take over and make a decision if both sides cant agree on certain terms

If there is an income or wealth disparity, the person who makes less money can easily get more than half in the divorce. Lawyers know that and typically aim for that when working with clients.

Because things were chill between us, I represented myself and he got a lawyer. We just worked on the paperwork together, which is atypical

Both people can skip the lawyer, but then navigating the paperwork and court system is a pain in the ass

This is all very State-dependent in the US

I'm divorced and we have split custody on our kids but I dont feel it was any different than a hetero marriage
