I actually despise the older gens for always harping on with the "modern music sucks" rhetoric. The music industry's target demo is young people. What's banal is an 84 year old man approaching music made for teens & people in their early 20s as if it's failed if it doesn't speak to them. Like how revelatory, an old person hating on youth culture, what a twist! Same bs he probably heard about his own music when he was young

BBHMM. It's easy to take for granted how fresh it was when it came out now that so many years have passed and its influence has dissolved into pop but it was truly a cultural reset

I can appreciate that's what her work meant to some people but that's not entirely true. She was all about being a producer, period, and the 'female producer' thing was something thrust onto her. She's spoken on this as early as 2015. She was driven to produce everything herself when she was on the come-up & gaining technical mastery because the pursuit of more knowledge & skills was what inspired her then. Around 2020, she became more interested in collaboration & that's still where she's at. Respectfully, she should be afforded the opportunity to chase what inspires her and not be confined in a box of what she should do 'as a female producer'. Why can't she just be an artist? Why does she have to be a 'female artist'? So stoked. Nobody else is engaging with the contemporary moment as it truly is in such a daring fashion. AI dominates popular discourse & has for years yet that truth is not reflected in any art. If you don't get what she's doing, kindly, **** off & stay out of our business. Art should provoke thought, it's not all supposed to be a pacifier or a security blanket for overgrown babies. I can't see Phoebe getting AOTY anymore. Her tour just came to my city & resale fell well below face value. Ticketmaster's CEO had predicted her tour would be 1 of the biggest of the year but I was in the 3rd row of the lower bowl for less than the cost of a Switch 2 game. The Grammys broadcast is ultimately a show & like any show, it has to tell a story. Her success story hinged on this tour. While the show is phenomenal, it's not the cultural moment it was primed to be. Olivia has the commercial success & the critical acclaim, she's my pick

I'm declining my ballot. Showgirl was a colossal disappointment but Rebecca's music has a no name/off brand/generic quality to it that I expected her to grow out of by this stage in her artistic development. This wasn't a "cutting through the noise" type of release, she's not breaking out from the pack & showing she has anything distinctly Rebecca beyond being the girl who once did Friday & is now doing not Friday

Brandon Creed trotting Troye out for Charli's ACL set for some of the worst singing of his career was an idea that should've been nipped in the bud after the soundcheck. I'm only watching now but his part was actually disastrous. The higher parts of his range sounded relatively better but that 1st verse of Le Boy… a heat seeking missile couldn't have helped him find the melody. It was painful. The song itself sounds like it'll slap on the recording, kind of has an Air vibe. But if he's sick or something they rly need to not have him do promo like this!

It's okay. Biggest gripe is the song is titled Different Religion and you have a queer artist on the track who doesn't fit the rigid conventions of what gay male beauty looks like (0% body fat, lean, muscular) & you cast male model types to lip sync his parts? Seriously? I'm not saying Cole had to make an appearance himself but it's a missed opportunity to break norms considering that's the entire point of the song

I could see her commissioning a remix album/compilation of her old hits but I really can't see her doing an album of original EDM songs right now

Madonna's impact transcends all demographics & Swifties always tune in when they know Tay's showing up. Idk why liddos deliberately set their fav up with what has to be jokes about people only wanting to see Gaga. We are well into the 2020s now so I'm gonna need you to stay with us in present day!
