Troye Sivan laments (his) singing; "the fact that I have the same job as Beyoncé.."
This low-key pmo. He's not ambitious (his output is infrequent & his albums are always short), he's not a gifted dancer, he needs Leland to cowrite all of his songs, he doesn't have a unique style or POV. If he truly thinks his voice isn't **** then why on EARTH is he still trying it? I think he's had flashes of brilliance but his biggest issue is clearly his lack of confidence. He thinks he has nothing special to share with the world and that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Popstars shouldn't be self-aware & humble, they should be delusional & hungry!

Country Queen Kasey Musgraves debuts lube line “Drought Drops”
Brand new product & it's completely sold out? Unlikely. It's giving publicity stunt to get her name out there to sell the tour because most dates didn't sell very well because the tickets were too expensive! No shade but that is the reality

Is Audrey Hobert the New It Girl?
**** no. Firstly, there's something deeply misogynistic about the way project authenticity & realness onto her purely on the basis that she's not attractive as if it's fake & in turn morally dubious to care about your appearance. Further, this image of her as this quirky eccentric goblin is 1 of the most contrived & forced branding exercises I've ever witnessed a pop act embark on. She's a fad people took interest in purely because she's the antithesis of the pop model we grew up on, she's tanking when the novelty wears off. At her core, the whole schtick is very 'I'm not like other girls'. TT will dub her a 'pick me' before 2027 draws to a close

Taylor seen talking with Charli xcx's husband at a wedding in the UK
Laura, the bride, was the engineer for all of The 1975's last album & she's worked with George on other projects. Charli only ever worked with Laura on 2 songs for Mother Mary. May be as simple as he has a more personal relationship with her than Charli does. They've spent more time together

Taylor Swift (The Lorax) praises Phoebe Bridgers' 'Lost Weekend' on Instagram
The only music she's recommended in the last ~18 months was I Said I'm Quitting Social Media and You Said "She Still Makes Music?" & Sombr so I wish she said this before I listened, she could've saved me the time

You can only learn ONE of these 7 cosmic truths. What do you choose?
I desperately want to know the future. It's 1 part of my mortality that breaks my heart. I want to know, for better or worse, what direction human civilization goes in! The thinkers & heroes that will inspire people that we'll never know. It's all very interesting to me, that option for sure

Jack won again, OJH lost again, surprised?
Fans said Lost Boys was disappointing (idk anybody irl that was excited by it) but I never saw 1 review from a formal music publication that called it disappointing. The new wave of music critics (online content creators) may have pushed back but the consensus from traditional media institutions was universal praise. If you like the music, more power to you but this score doesn't say **** all other than the industry wants to see her on top

Phoebe Bridgers - 'Lost Weekend'
Phenomenal production. What am I even supposed to say about the lyrics? Half-assed, phoned in, ambiguous to the point of meaning nothing? It'd be easier to enjoy this as an instrumental work so I'd have no expectation that the songs are supposed to say or mean anything

BEYOND BORDERs, Grimes, Hatsune Miku, さたぱんP - "Miku-Maxxing"
Can people stop performing outrage around Grimes' music as if they're sticking it to the man & fighting the system vs playing into a social contagion & hive-mindedness? There's an 'alt' star that just dropped a universally acclaimed album where 14 of the 17 songs include writing and performance contributions from a man who was accused of raping & grooming a teen but Grimes is 'disgusting' because... she wants to be Hatsune Miku? Give it up. You don't have to like her but don't pretend you're pushing back against something abhorrent or dangerous or evil when the Grimes hate train is little more than a circle jerk. Who is she influencing atp? Be fr. She's not contributing to any social ills, she isn't harming people. It's so transparent. She's judged at a harsh standard other stars aren't simply bc she's not 'cool' anymore. I like the song, it's not on the level of Artificial Angels but I'm always happy to hear more music from her

Phoebe scores her most acclaimed album: surprised?
No shade, the critical acclaim around this era has been preordained since the Boygenius album, she could've ripped a fart into an SM57 for an hour & the music press would've acted like she's John Cage. That much was obvious when Ticketmaster's CEO was raving about her several months before there any word of new Phoebe music hit the public. Listening now, it's good. It's not better than Punisher and other singer-songwriters have delivered stronger work this year (let's get people talking about Harmony Tividad!) that didn't get half the reception. Not saying that to put Phoebe down but no wonder so many people are fatigued with new music when this is the type of thing the critical press is saying is a must-hear album. It isn't the masterpiece they're claiming it is. The Gracie diss isn't even a diss. All the coverage around this thing is overblown and hyperbolic ETA: getting a dislike bc I said it wasn't THAT great only reinforces how much this is a bandwagon/social contagion where ppl are unwilling to accept a difference of opinion bc that goes against the current of hype

Better discography: Tinashe vs Charli xcx
The question was "who has the better discography", who carried what shouldn't be relevant to the question of what music is better quality. Catalogue vs catalogue - it's Charli & it's not even close. This site is wild. People in this thread talking about charli's lows are lower like Tinashe didn't release Joyride

Best and worst Confessions II act?
4 is the most interesting stuff on the album by a landslide. I listened to The Test way more than any other song on here. I'd argue 2 is the worst for the same reason nobody voted for it as the best, it is relatively unremarkable, nothing happens in these 4 songs that takes you by surprise
