  • my god what a ******* HORRIBLE album slop noise made for the most insufferable genre of gays, genuinely so surprised to see the acclaim, you'd expect this to be some sort of genre pushing masterpiece

  • She's just so inauthentic and always throwing **** at the wall to see if it sticks, I can't get into it. Cheap throwaway pop music. 3/10.

Tinashe - Songs For You

Tinashe's 4th album and 8th overall project. The album that served as a reintroduction to a lot of people to Tinashe. After separating with RCA after they scrapped the Nashe album, going separate ways with her previous management and a very public breakup with Ben Simmons. Tinashe was basically starting all over again. This found her back to her roots with the album being recorded in her home studio and reaching out to producers who would be willing to collaborate.

The result was a project that reinvigorated her fanbase and reignited people's interest in her music. The album was so well received that it had Tinashe in a vulnerable state and tearfully thanking all the people who continued to support her and her music. The album also housed several tracks that was from the scrapped Nashe album such as "Cash Race" and "Link Up" as well as several catalog highlights like "Know Better" and "Save Room for Us"

Tinashe - Aquarius

Tinashe's debut album and 4th overall project. A masterpiece years in the making. Tinashe stated she recorded over 100+ songs just for this record. It serves as the perfect introduction to Tinashe. Aquarius being her star sign. Tinashe's song "How Many Times" samples Janet Jackson's classic track "Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun) as a homage to one of her biggest inspirations. It also includes the Interlude "Deep in The Night" which features vocals of a 5 year old Tinashe performing the very first song she ever wrote.

This album also served as her major label debut with her song 2 On which is herald as a club classic. The album also includes the bonus track "Watch Me Work" which charted back in 2016 cause people thought it was Rihanna's song Work. The album has been cited as an influential album and was included in several year end "best of 2014" publications.

I still to this day wonder what the original joyride tracklist looked like

I recall Player, Fires and Flames, Prisoner and Fearless (which ended up being Scared of Happy for Fifth Harmony) was played at a listening party. I am not sure if they were all part of the OG tracklist, but they were being considered pretty early-on.

I just want to know if this is her magnum opus, because I've loved all the songs she's released and I can't imagine the rest being a disappointment.

There are the obvious ones that she performed on the Joyride tour (y'all remember that and then they canceled it midway? lmao we have suffered) and singles. A lot of which ended up on Nightride too. She also was teasing a bunch of song titles during that time. What I know for sure is:

Player, Touch Pass, Joyride, Ghetto Boy, Party Favors, No Contest, Ride of Your Life, Ghetto Boy, Soul Glitch.

i believe Company, Superlove, Flame etc was later sessions.

it's been long enough we need all the tea and tracklists for joyride/nightride

and country music is a beautiful genre when they aren't singing about beers, horses, hay, two stepping and the south

it's americana influenced, in a way, which is what the song was described as so i'm assuming it's gonna be something similar...

I think Tinashe would've hated this idea but I think RCA should've pushed another album between Nightride and Joyride with full pop songs like Player, Flame, Prisoner, promoting those songs and trying to make one of them a hit, and then let her have freedom for the actual Joyride

On 9/19/2026 at 5:21 AM, Indie Go Mind said:

The issue back then wasn't what the album was supposed to sound like primarily. It was the fact that Tinashe was failing to get hit songs for the album to anchor on. Joyride was basically being held hostage until Tinashe got a hit but RCA wouldn't properly promote her. It was really a catch 22.

Joyride was Tinashe under extreme compromise. Flame was released as a single cause it got her a sponsorship with Pepsi and a lot of promo slots.

Also at the time, another issue was Tinashe being put in a box cause she was too pop for R&B and vice versa. They just didn't know what to do with her. A fully pop album would risk alienating the fanbase she already had with her previous 6 releases.

Idk what was so hard about giving us a Joyride album who's tracklist would be compromised of:

  1. My Territory featuring Britney Spears

  2. Leave Someone featuring Drake to fill in the empty bridge verse

  3. All I Ask Of You

  4. Bullet

  5. Eat You Up

  6. Fugazi

  7. Heavy

  8. In Love With You

  9. Instructions

  10. Just Like You

  11. Learn Me

  12. Leave It featuring French Montana (I hated his verse on Me So Bad)

  13. Money

  14. Prisoner

  15. Stranger

  16. Underneath The Lights

● 5AM with Calvin Harris

● Already Started with Dillon Francis

● Flames with Kaskade (the original was so bland at lest this remix made it a guilty pleasure)

● Superlove with Danny L Harle (the superior version of this song and could've been her Barbie Girl, Super Bass, Say So)

We also need the tea on apparent POP SMASHES like Level Up and Stop Light

Also NASHE the mixtape being scrapped will always be a crime. This is the first time we ever had a body of work by her teased then scrapped like imagine

  1. Like I Used To

  2. Throw A Fit

  3. Grip

  4. New ****

  5. Feel A Vibe featuring Jeremih

  6. Fashion Nova

  7. Filet Mignon (the original version not the weird mix she officially released)

  8. Check For Me

  9. It's My Body

  10. Kill The Lights

  11. Mozzarella Sticks

  12. Pay Me

  13. Sweatshirt

  14. Waterslide

  15. Wussaname

Thank U, Next would've had a sister album
