I wanted parallelism, symmetry, having the same exact tracklist as WGIA but backwards

her career turn is still soo so crazy to me

been a fan since her mixtape days and here she's cheered on by the whole industry even anna w is clapping lmao

imagine dragons guy is so into the performance

i hope she won't cancel the eu tour cuz like the tickets were so cheap before the album was even released dies

ot: both the video and instrumental are so dark and ominous to me wow

Can I just say her music videos are literally amazing!! Even before she had any budget, they always looked incredibly cool and matched the songs perfectly. She created such a strong visual identity by using her resources well and really thinking about what kind of world she wants to create for this album

Yall gonna switch like **** on this because its not meant to be Crank or a louder remix of crank. She is dragging this demon man to filth.

Theres only one way to describe what it feels like listening to Crank 2:

It's also not like this song erased CRANK. I still need to listen to them back to back jonny5

These songs have felt like such a great combination of a victory lap AND a stern "**** you" to her ex, and I couldn't be more happy with the way this follow-up seems to be coming together.

ALBOOM REVIEW DON'T OPEN IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERZ

slayyyter is continuing her generational run with the inverse album, but does it reach the insane heights of its GIRL side?

a record that's softer, at times brighter, at times melancholic, and way more vulnerable and intimate. She leans even harder into the live-band sound here; real guitars, real drums, less maximalism and more atmosphere. Whether it's the dark, angelic guitar ballad "hymn" or the indie dream-pop Brittany Murphy flip "perfect woman," the '90s are being explored way more than the 2010s this time around. "hopefully you'll think of me fondly one day someday" There's a really strong alternative feel running through the whole thing.

Outside of "Brand New Chanel$," "Nekromantik" is the immediate standout. The live performance genuinely did not prepare me for how good the actual song is. The melodies are insane and it better be a single!

Even with all these new sides of her artistry showing up, "Hey Boyyy" is still pure classic Slayyyter: glitchy 2010s electro-synth, bratty and instantly addictive. But definitely do not go into this expecting every song to sound like that or "Brand New Chanel$," because that's not really what this project is trying to do. And then "$$$" comes in sampling none other than mother herself, flipping "Beat Up Chanel$." It's not really a full song, more like a little musical interlude in the vein of Rihanna's "Goodnight Gotham".

WOR$T GIRL felt like her coming through with something to prove. It had this abrasive, "watch me take over the world" confidence to it. This collection feels softer and more reflective. There's almost a "thank you, I'm grateful", a feminine energy while she's also clearly processing the heartbreak and emotional fallout of everything that happened earlier this year. This feels less like a brand-new era and more like an expansion of the world she already created; the icing on the cake, the cherry on top of the AOTY she already dropped.

And honestly, it would be unfair to hold this to the exact same standard as WOR$T GIRL. That record was worked on for years. This was made incredibly quickly while she was already in the middle of a promo and tour cycle. The fact we're even getting another full batch of songs this soon instead of waiting three years is a win in itself.

That being said… "Brand New Chanel$" is still the best song she's released, a career highlight and one of the best songs ever made. I'm intentionally not talking about a few tracks because some things will be left to a surprise, but there genuinely isn't a skip here. mother continues the generational run she started with new glimpses into her artistry.
