Bluesky is like the reverse of Truth Social.

If I had the opportunity to create a social network.I'd make it very stylish-futuristic-minimalis-modern and focused on good content—but without anything political. Only hobbies, viral stuff,comedy,onlyfans,celebs.gifts. I feel like that's what ruined the beauty of social media: when it turned into a space for conspiracy theories, activists or angrymob take down culture,bots, right–left political propaganda from bodegas, billionaries hateful project algorithm.... instead of a place you went to have fun-chill-disconnect from real life. Early Myspace. I miss that time. It was all about havin the most stylish glittery page. Not about the most controversial takes.

Blue Sky has twice the number of users now than in Nov. 2024 though and has been continuously growing month over month.

Just because it didnt immediately become the biggest platform doesn't mean it is performing poorly.

Bluesky failed because it exclusively existed just to become an echo chamber. And so all it will ever remain is just that. A niche. No matter what group you're targeting it will be the result.

That is true that there is a large population that does that, but at the same time, its a huge cultural force because a lot of people are first to learn about major world events on X. Its an immediate crowdsourced news outlet and is deeply integrated with news cycles in general - which started happening about 10 years ago. It has major cultural significance because of that. The same cannot be said for BlueSky.

blue sky was boring and gave HR approved. yes twitter is gross now, but it can be fun.

I think that if the sole motive to move to another platform is political, it will always be short lived or temporal

Platforms are not built on political movements, they are built on convenience and novelty

Bluesky offers absolutely nothing new that is relevant

It doesn't have enough unhinged people. Twitter thrived because of the schizos, people in deep psychosis and overall left field takes. BlueSky is so tame and thus boring.

also, everyone is leaving twitter now that theyʻre going full Tumblr

I remember the owner saying something about not waiting the platform to be too left leaning and wanted also for right winger to feel welcomed. Plus all the pro Palestine posts being censored heavely.

People wanted an alternative to Twitter and found out it was another technofeudalist app. That probably killed all the momentum.
