Why is Taylor SO chart obsessed?

The real answer is because she can. She's cultivated a fanbase that will spend $40 just to hear her off-key voice memo hum-a-longs to early demos of one of her songs. When you know your fans will quite literally enjoy/buy anything you put out because you've created them this way, what incentive is there for you to actually push yourself artistically? She can just make the same 1-2 step pop songs and reap the rewards. In her mind she has nothing to prove anymore (lol) because her arbiter of success is only in numbers, as she has said implied in her doc whenever she even slightly underperforms.

If the fans are buying it and no one is forcing them, I have no issues. Just like Billie's fans are paying hundreds of dollars to see her lackluster live shows & her jumping like rat on stage.

  • Because without numbers, her music can't stand the test of time Her acclaim is very payola'd, and she doesn't particularly excel in any aspect of being an actual artist. As a business woman though, sh

Icarus there's a literal excel spreadsheet with 5 tabs for 1 Taylor Swift album, let's not.

the fairytales y'all created in your head just cuz you hate her ahh

you're way more of a loser than you think she is ahh

Now that her few years of being a critic darling are over, she has to compensate for it by maximizing her sells so she can say "see, people do love my music!"

Her tour is being sold as this ground and record-breaking tour when it benefitted from being a greatest hits tour that no one else is doing and from the concert boom. In a 2015 state her gross would be at $500M tops. Taylor is not more popular or famous to the GP than her nearest peers and has half the known songs because she's very smoke-and-mirrorish in her marketing.

This is a ridiculous thing to say when we all saw with our own eyes what she achieved. The Eras Tour was a phenomenon and no amount excuses changes that. Parking lots were full of thousands of people who came without tickets. The demand was on another level.

Like imagine trying to come for Eras when it decimated absolutely every other tour, old and more recent than it, greatest hits or not bibliahhtheir mental gymnastics are getting more and more sad.

Especially selling the idea of $500m being some kind of bad achievement, 99% of the girls haven't had a single tour get close to that, or ever will.

Trauma response from Me and YNTCD getting blocked at #2 that she doesn't want to trigger anything that resembles that unpleasant memory

She probably genuinely believes that being the biggest or having the most of XYZ equates to a quantifiable measure of greatness as an artist, but that's often not the case.

Not Swifties pulling the "Gaga has more remixes" card isudumblmao

Gaga doesn't have more remixes because she's trying to manipulate the charts, she has them because she is a dance music oriented artist

because she's a product, not an artist. she's a very successful and clever businesswoman and a marketing/PR mastermind. but her output is no longer about quality music and artistic excellence. 2020 was the only time it was. And if I'm being honest that's why I don't like her. she can create music like Illicit Affairs, Invisible String or Cowboy Like Me which even I as a now hater have to admit are very well written songs with amazing melodies that shows what she's capable of but she chooses to release **** like her latest album to inflate her stats

A few corrections I had to make to my statement mandown

On top of that Taylor has ALWAYS ranked among the top 3 women in touring for over a decade now, well before the Eras Tour rip Her only competition was always Madonna, Bey, and Pink. I guess Gaga that one time in 2010, too. To act like The Eras Tour was a one time fluke is hysterical dies

It's a marketing tool. People complaining about her increases the visibility of her name/prompts her base to argue with them, continuing to validate her to do it more often. The world turns…

when other girls were out here giving away their album for free just to reach a gold certification. not 99 cents, free.

Because she is still mentally stuck at 16, she is the girl who frequently escaped into daydreaming about being part of the 'popular' clique in high school. Her dad probably told her she'd never be good enough and it left a huge psychological scar in her. She really can't help herself. Her entire life has been about proving that she belongs, that shes liked, that shes popular. I mean she basically admitted this in Miss Americana.

All she ever wanted is to be popular and adored. She needs the love and adoration from other people because she's miserable with herself, she sees herself as a narcissist who will never truly be happy. That's why she drinks. She is actually a very flawed person. I don't think she's ever been truly satisfied in live. Her dad probably ****** her up mentally.

Genuinely hilarious how some users here cry about greed and capitalism while stanning artists who sell wildly overpriced makeup and lifestyle products, often made in countries with terrible labour laws. How is that kind of low-effort branding cash-grab somehow less embarrassing or less greedy than actually putting work into selling your music? Especially when selling remixes is something other pop girls do all the time without catching any flak for it.

Because she's insecure and feels that she always has to be number one.

Maybe she is obsessed with money. And if her fans are okay on giving their rent money bying opalite variants thats a they thing

She's like those cash doms you see in Twitter you know.

I mean all of our faves would try to get cash from us to me whats intrigating is how she's gotten away with it for so long I mean she had her stans to buy her entire discography twice because of the masters issue and then she got the masters back

Oh and she got money for selling those masters to begin with. I mean to me that was a scam but if her stans are fine with it why wouldn't l

Wow.. you are not familiar with this case at all if you think Taylor got money from the initial sale of masters she never owned in the first place.
