The variants, remixes, exclusives, and now multiple music video versions. Why is she SO chart obsessed? Even without all that, she'd be doing fine commercially. So why be so desperate to get chart points? No other artist comes close to the tactics she uses. She's like capitalism personified, where the only thing that matters is that numbers go up.

She's not doing anything that hasn't been done before. She's just doing it successfully

The Kanye incident probably reinforced her already competitive, goal-oriented personality and made external validation (like charts) feel even more important as proof that she is deserving of her success (cause you can't argue with numbers).

Because without numbers, her music can't stand the test of time

Her acclaim is very payola'd, and she doesn't particularly excel in any aspect of being an actual artist. As a business woman though, she definitely takes after her father

she makes so much money by being obsessed with the charts and telling her fans to buy "Opalite (Ava Max Remix) (Extended Version)" 100k times

In her mind she's still in high school and she probably sees manipulating the charts like manipulating the vote for homecoming/prom queen

I mean she is a commercial artist, on a commercial record label, so it technically is her job to aim for as much revenue and the highest positions.

I may personally not like all the antics, but she is more or less doing what her job description is on paper
