the Civics section barely spills over to other sections (its like a cocoon of its own in this site). This is just an attempt to protect certain groups/people here who want to whitewash reality.

I wasn't shut down for one member. It's a larger problem that has been going on with Civics for a while and it will not return until we as a staff come up with a plan to address it. And that's the end of the discussion.

This is so strange. I visit the Civics section almost daily and I've never seen something that'd consider particularly'serious'. It doesn't seem any different from the other sections confused

I'm not sure it's actually clever to openly admit to the very accusations you're trying to deny in the defense you're posting.

So there was official discussions related to forum policy on a Discord server?

And some users are meant to trust this was done in good faith? When said discussions involved attacking users who are not even part of said Discord and couldn't give their opinion to comments made about them? Posts degrading them? Would someone like myself be meant to trust this is in good faith finding out my username was being used by some as a verb? rip

I don't care if any member of staff, for example, isn't a fan of any user or myself - my hot takes, or my musical opinions, or even my writing style. People are allowed to not like other people. But for you to admit that major changes to be done with the forum were discussed on some server between staff and non-staff members and said decisions' reasoning apparently involved referencing forum members not even part of these servers, and who don't involve themselves in such personal, off-site drama, is extremely questionable.

The user you're defending angrily messaged and harassed users on both ATRL and Discord about the definition of Zionism.

How does this align with your claim? They made an original claim of site-wide antisemitism and that such was apparently due to a "clique" (?) of "tankies"?

But now you're saying the issue is actually the "section mods"? Don't all mods have the ability to view reports?

And the solution was to hide an entire section to appease the concerns of a user who had to just have a thread hidden because other moderators - those not even moderating the Civics section - found their aggressive and harassing posts unfairly hostile?

Again, it's just incoherent to accuse others of being "dangerous authoritarians" as this user has done yet in the same breath demand the censuring of entire broad discussion topics because said user cannot force people to accept their personal bias for a type of ethnic nationalism. rip

"Politics should not be discussed on ATRL as long as people don't accept Jewish Nationalism" is a horrific demand.

It's jarring as someone who has posted on this forum for a decade about politics, even as far back when members were openly allowed to post far-right rhetoric about immigration in Europe, and who was repeatedly harassed and mass down-voted for not supporting European ethno-nationalism and white ethno-states... to now be accused by someone defending Zionism of "you only care cause it's Jews".

Not to be off topic or anything, but i really love and admire your writing style. I sometimes tend to skim through cause my brain's too fried to always read in full, but whatever you say always has that sophisticated energy. Teach me your ways please !!

Update: okay, so i haven't completely assimilated the convo so this is only a comment on the writing style, rather than what is being written.

I feel like there's more toxicity in Celebria and Base than Civics rip

Very annoying when a few members disrupt the forum for the rest of us.

People who want Civics deleted are the casual zionists that hide their Zionism (some more blatant than others) on this forum and/or people who can't debate or know anything about current events and geopolitics.

That's unfair to say tbh. I also participate in civics and didn't want to see it gone but there are people who are explicitly pro-palestine and stay away from civics.

@Rian

I think there should be an internal discussion about moderators (swifties, more precisely) changing thread titles. This thread is now unreadable because the comments do not coincide with the title; all of them were accurate at the time they were posted so there's no need for the revisionism in the title

I'm a pretty casual user but it's hard to see this as anything other than censorship of political discussionโ€ฆ at a time when that is extremely dangerous. I hope the mod team will take that into consideration.

The good sis Communion is dogmatic, yes, but they are pretty evidently a committed ideological progressive/leftist and certainly not anti-Semitic. And the personal attacks against them here really don't sit right with me.

As for those celebrating Civics being taken down, I'm unsure why you would rejoice about something like this. Nobody forces you to participate in those threads, just as I generally will never care to post in a Taylor thread. Politics is relevant to all of our lives, and taking away a rare online space where that discussion is driven largely by queer people is truly unfortunate.

Just to reiterate, the removal of the civics section is only temporary.

My mistake. To be clear, I haven't seen that clarified anywhere in hereโ€”the one moderator who has been posting in here has only used "if/when"โ€”and seems to be coming down much harder on certain members than others. Some more impartial clarity would be useful if there is any, but I understand that discussions are underway, etc.

This should be a notice. If we got a notice for when Whis sucked a guy's dick, we should get important notices about forum changes.
