You can tell she was born for this. I don't get the critiques of her music, it's all solid bops if you enjoy pop at all. Midnight Sun is such an anthem, I'm so glad she's getting her moment. I hope she can sustain it, cos she deserves it.

The bathroom abortion ****** me up. The media has done such a disservice not adequately reporting the revelations & actual horrors in the book. That a person can endure this much trauma & be let down & abused by so many people they loved & still come out fighting and hopeful is just… no words. I know I said it already, but there's genuinely just no way someone can read it & have the same preconceived notions they may have held. Her resilience is inspirational.

She absolutely deserves an award just for the way she said "B ! TCH" when describing Jamie Lynn's behaviour, lol. That came from the soul.

I urge you to read the book before passing this judgement, or better yet, listen to the audio book. Michelle Williams does an incredible job. As a die hard fan & a major sceptic of her camp, even currently, I'd be honest if I didn't think Britney wrote this book. She is actually well read, and her sassiness, tone & style is unmistakably her in it, or I wouldn't recommend it. You can clearly hear through the book, it never comes off as impersonal. She had spoken about wanting to write one countless times before & this one was created with the aid of Sam Lansky. They're the only 2 credits

Brit was my number 1 ultimate fave & her music shaped and got me thru the toughest times. I was deep into the case for years so when the book came out, I got my preordered copy but put it off for so long because 1. I thought I knew everything, 2. I was still sceptical that it would be truly personal and 3. That it would be too sad. I was very wrong about the first two & unfortunately, severely underestimated the third. It's devastating, but also, so very important.

It's devastating. And still so current. She makes a fantastic comparison between men in the industry that can do drugs, sleep around, throw tv's out windows & not face nearly the type of scrutiny & STATE control that was enforced on her. It's absolutely maddening & still is. The state & legal system is complicit in giving her abuser ownership of every imaginable facet of her life. It's literally like the film "obsession" was her reality. Actual horror. And the most heartbreaking of all, is she gave up her life for the chance to be able to nap with her kids & hold their hands. I'm inconsolable all over again, damn it.

Your own father reviewing & disclosing your sexual history & demanding any potential partner disclose theirs, having ownership of your body down to what you can and can't eat & when, and whether you can procreate or not… not a laughing matter at all. It's exactly these types of people that need to read the damn book.

I'm currently revisiting it after some years, after hearing of the tragic passing of Hayden… it's just as saddening, shocking & perspective setting as ever. A damning condemnation of patriarchy, female exploitation & the misogyny that runs rampant & unchecked in a world that poses as though it's built on law & justice. Even with all the reporting & countless docs on the matter, none have actually adequately captured just how hellish her father was. The woman endured food deprivation for focks sake!! The world was not mad enough. Britney enduring what she did is a testament to her inspirational strength and I'm so thankful to still have her here, still able to get up everyday and dance through pain & daring to be silly & vulnerable in the face of a cruel world's opinions. That she's willing to share anything at all is a miracle, and so focking punk. Britney Spears is the most fascinating public figure since Princess Diana. You will not erase her contributions, nor sully her name.

Hi, so, an accepted industry standard in pig farming to eliminate baby piglets that are runts, ill, or generally considered not financially viable, is called "thumping". "Thumping" is just as it sounds. You grab the baby piglet by its hind legs and thump its head against the ground, to death. It is also accepted and the norm industry practice to castrate young piglets without any sedation or anaesthesia, by locking them upright in a contraption & twisting their testicles off as they squeal in agony - some farms even cut their tails at this age. Why? Pigs are highly intelligent & sensitive - just as smart as dogs - and they are literally driven so mad being cooped up in tiny pens, that they often resort to chewing each others tails off. Millions of pigs are gassed to death each day. Meaning, they experience everything mentioned above in their miserable youth, then live life in a dark, tiny warehouse, then get chucked on a truck to their death, where they essentially are burned alive from the inside out, as their eyeballs melt or explode and they gasp for air. And that's your bacon. If you love animals, don't eat them if you don't have to. Don't finance this industry with your dollars & direct this level of ire to the industries that get away with this level of cruelty, legally. OT: China is ridiculously overdue for actual animal welfare laws, in general. As dog ownership is becoming more popular there, there is a growing number of youth with different attitudes on this topic pushing for reform.

On some real ish, I agree with you. At least domestically, he's much worse, yes. Do I believe Nicki actually gives af about politics? No. None of these things affect people in that income range beyond taxes. I don't believe she has the political acumen or knowledge to be speaking on half the things she's inserting herself into. At the same time, I think she also knows that & has been very calculated with which policies she's willing to openly support. She's even had his spokesperson come out and clarify that she doesn't personally identify as republican or democrat, but "common sense". Do I believe that's true? No. But it's evidently something she discussed with that camp because to some degree, she is aware that there is a crapload she shouldn't be associating with. Personally, I think she's crossed more of a line in her support for Elon, but she seems to have made a calculation that it is somehow to her personal benefit. I think the concessions she's made, regardless of her personal reasons, are a huge stain on her character & it's highly disappointing, to say the least. Just another reminder not to deify artists you enjoy. What I can also acknowledge, prior to this maga-mess - is that she has actually meant so much for her gay fans, particularly those of color. She did, in fact, accept them, welcome them, and actively created a space for them in a genre that typically shut them out. She advocated for them whenever she was told her music was too gay or too girly. Whenever she interacts with them, it's not a pandering or an "othering". She just did her, and it resonated. And you guys still painted her out to be homophobic. She championed for industry reform & fairer pay for artists in the transition to streaming, which every artist benefits from today. You guys still called her desperate & a sore loser. She collaborated with, co-signed or congratulated most up and coming female artists in her genre - you guys still called her mean & threatened, when she clearly explained there were record execs pushing for drama behind the scenes, even going as far as to bake it into contracts as a requirement, and actively attempting to remove her from the equation to get a bigger slice of a very niche pie. When tbh, why did she even have to do this? Beyonce doesn't. Rihanna doesn't. Taylor Swift doesn't. She attempted to put out a documentary about her physical abuse at the hands of a handler that was actively prevented from being released by one of the industry's leading ceo's and a man that she looked up to, all because it was his artist that was implicated. You guys just mocked her & still do, now that she understandably detests him. She had a brother imprisoned and had to come to terms with the fact that he committed something so heinous. You guys held no grace for the idea that she might defend her own family member - prior to any evidence or conviction. Or the idea that celebrities get hustled for money with similar claims all the time. See: Jay Z & his family. Instead, you called her a pedo sympathiser, even though her response was not sympathy, it was denial - before the facts - and no mention of him since the verdict. You created an environment of endless scrutiny and harm over her family and her child, because of an incident committed when her partner was 15, that had nothing to do with her, that he'd served time for & continues to face a lifetime consequence for. You called her a rape sympathiser. It's so beyond cartoonishly evil or believable that a woman who has faced endless scrutiny over her body, spoken openly of pressures for sexualisation in a men-lead genre, advocated for and presented an image of a strong-willed, independent woman, would be called a "rape sympathiser". They took something as sacred and meaningful as starting a family & turned it into something so perverse. She experienced a massive hate train, had to endure pregnancy, child birth, early motherhood & her father being killed the week before he could ever meet her child, all throughout a lockdown - you guys just called her coked up. Never mind that she's spoken openly about her battle with perc addiction, or the fact that her father was an addict who literally burned their house down & caused irreparable trauma in her youth. You've endlessly body shamed her. Clowned and disparaged her. Projected onto her everything that which she ever stood against & actively chose to ignore or erase any and all good she'd ever done & laughed at her calls for assistance or labelled her "loony" and paranoid whenever she spoke up for herself. I mean. Is it really a wonder that she turned to where she was made to feel appreciated? Yes, even if it's in a useful idiot manner, ultimately. It's not excusable & she's certainly not faultless, but I think it's important to contextualise. We have her on record mocking Trump & his wife, speaking out against deportation policies & years worth of her expressing pride in her heritage & immigrant status & advocating for Obama & Michelle. These sentiments don't just genuinely disappear. There is an explainable mutual benefit she is receiving to some degree with her current actions that we're not across. Her humanity is often very easily erased on here and it's down to a mix of racism, misogyny & partly the fact that she comes off as so brash & generally, not a sympathetic figure. But she's also had to become this way, hardened by the industry. You see the same change in Cardi B today, for example, but not nearly half of the coverage or tactical media push of her unhinged or emotional outbursts, because she plays the industry's game & is useful. Nicki wasn't useful, nor malleable & would not relinquish power. I guess where I'm coming from is that, I'm not all too surprised. I'm not all too convinced. And ultimately, I'm all too disappointed and over caring about the hows and the whys of her behaviour. She was the artist I most resonated with after Britney… who sadly also did not have a very respectable send off for an icon of her influence. Nicki has spoken of similar tactics being attempted with her, particularly with the allusion to schizophrenia and unsubstantiated claims of mental illness. The industry is a dirty game, if for some reason she saw this realm of political security as a defence mechanism, well… hey, that sucks. The music still slaps for me, and that's where my interest remains, seperate and aside from her personal character.

I can't stop replaying "Kiss Me". What an incredible track. I've sat with this album, solely, since its release. It's captured a solemn, moody apathy that can only really be achieved once you're absolutely spent & exhausted. It's rage, but it's not anger… it's the type of rage that simmers after you've reached boiling point. It's pensive, self righteous, sinister & … actually quite isolating. I also noted vulnerability, but an absence of accountability. The instances she does flirt with the thought, it's in more of a "you made it this way" context. It's literally an avoidant "Fock you". Which honestly, is so real & kinda punk lol. The production establishes the atmosphere & tone so well & as much as I live for an Ari vocal belt, it isn't really called for here and I never felt like it was missing. The understated delivery elevates the soundscape she was aiming for, imo. I think this is her best body of work, certainly her most honest. Top faves are: Kiss Me, Oh Well, Like I Do & Nowhere, Nobody.

People do that with democrats their faves support and advocate for all the time, supporting presidents who also have homophobic records, are war mongers, are AIPAC goons, supported a Genocide, deported and bombed in record numbers, just sprinkled with some rainbow PR. Some of your faves even collaborated with rapists & said verbatim "we are both misunderstood". Some are currently married to dealers that ruined entire communities & are actively utilised by the establishment to suppress racial equality movements, when they're not too busy ruining senior citizen's lives in court. Half the politically rotted nation is playing this game, lbr. We can play "your trash smells worse than my trash?", ultimately, they're all trash opportunists. Some clearly make concessions for their faves & lambast others, or they'll serve you some PR slop soliloquy about a "dark time" & "mental health" - a grace they have never afforded to others. Some see a video posted of a father and his son & the first thought their perverse mind has is "sexual abuse". The moral grandstanding means na-da. Most have made their stances clear & have rightfully called out the behaviour and politics they don't align with. It's not their fault some can't fathom themselves functioning seperate and apart from an artist, & end up short circuiting with questions like "omg how is this possible?" We're all over the antics & grift. The music still slaps & has been formative for millions.
