I love the music video, but I agree it doesn't necessarily fit the song. The music video is a lot more suited for a song like So High School for nostalgia vibes.

Anyway, the song only needs exposure to (hopefully) explode. It's just a perfect pop song, and I hope the video would give the song the much-needed exposure.

Anyway, I've criticized the choices made in this video more than enough so I get where you're coming from.

As one of the biggest TLOAS-hating Swifties on this site, I'll just say the video was pretty cute I agree that some kind of extension of the talent show segment would have been nice, just to match the more upbeat tone of the song, but overall the video is definitely one of her better executions. Sure, it's a little cheesy, but to see people in here compare it to Katy Perry shows a real lack of discernment.

I do think she should go in the complete opposite direction for the Elizabeth Taylor video though, just to show some range: HIGH glam, no storyline, etc.

The world of this video exists in the same realm as the Anti Hero, You Belong With Me, and Ours videos, in my mind. I like that it's a bit more grounded and "dull," because that's what life is like. And yet, the main characters create happiness in a bleak, colorless, lifeless world.
