Do you have any friends?

Featured Replies

I'm lucky to have three best friends. One is an older guy I hooked up with when I was 21, but who has since become more like a gay brother and mentor (we're strictly friends now). Another is a girl I met at one of my old jobs—we ended up working three other jobs together afterward, since we would quit and get hired again at the same places :rip:. The third is another work friend who became like a big sister to me and is fiercely loyal.

I've had to let go of my high school friends and old drug crew because they turned out to be horrible people (some were decent, but they kept using).

I've always avoided dating, but now at 29 I feel very lonely and would really like to have a boyfriend :monkey:

Met amazing people who I consider wonderful friends through political activism and volunteering in my local community. I am grateful for the support I have in my life

yes but I absolutely love pushing them away and formulating scenarios in my head where we're actually ops and I hate them with no real merits :heart2:

Well I used not to have many when I was young. I used to think my kindness was a problem, cause people often mistake it for weakness, but Ive grown to learn it's more of a strenght point because grown up people search for someone that they can rely on, and I'm quite good at that. That's also why I also have several long distance friendships, and even some online friends, some of them I never met irl but weve been friends for over a decade now. Strangely enough I never made a friend here on ATRL yet :psyduck:

no that's a different forum

I have around 5-6 core friends from college where we hang out together, went out together, travel together. Two of them are like family to me. I've made friends/acquaintances through each of them but those are super low maintenance and we only speak if we see each other. And then I have a bunch of acquaintances from all the social stuff I was a part of in college.

I also have friends from various jobs that I still keep in touch with. Four of my current work friends, including myself, are leaving our job so that's gonna suck not to see them but we'll stay in touch. I will say making friends outside of college is very annoying and can be difficult but it's not impossible.

Irl? No. But on the internet, yes. I made friends with a lot of people on Twitter and ATRL. My definition of friendship/friends is loose. If I usually interact with a person, share the same interests with,...etc, they're friends.

I think finding, making friends in adulthood is challenging. When we were young, our circle of friends used to be big because as kids, we wanted to have friends to have fun with, kids making friends very easy. But when we're older, the circle is smaller, I think because everyone is busy with their lives, they prioritise other important things.

If you're looking for friends, on here you can join bases or somebody that is usually talk to you, they're called friends or hanging out irl at the pubs, bars,... Oh you're still young, you have many times to make friends. Don't worry

I consider only 2 people to be close friends of mine and I met both of them before I had turned 20. Since then, I kind of don't care to get to know someone on a deeper level and build a relationship with them that does not involve activities like seeking Amy :suburban:

I have one friend from college, 1 from university, 1 from my first job and the rest are people I worked with over the years and became friends with.

Only one these days but we live far from each other so I don't see her often. I'm suppose to move down that way but it looks like I won't be able to afford to will have to move further and it's getting harder to hang out with my bestie

So I'll soon have none

I have "friends" that i hang out with but I don't get deep with them at all

and i'm very lucky to have a twin brother that I consider to be my best friend and i can trust and share secrets with him

I have…a female friend that will hit me up once a lunar cycle to do something. But I feel like most of the people I know just talk to me so that they have someone to talk to. Maybe it's just my current mental state but I don't feel valued by most of my "friends"

the closest and best friend I have is my sister. we are each other's ride or die.

also have a friend that I know for 28 years which is crazy to think about. we grew up in the same neighborhood, played together since we were little kids, went to school together. she's married now and has a kid, but we still hang out every now and then, and still have deep trust in each other.

I have 2 other great friends from school and 2 more from college. we still keep in touch even though we all live in different countries/cities.

the people I talk to most now are my colleagues, and some of them I consider friends.

so yeah, all in all I've always been popular methinks

I have a best friend who I catch up with when I can (we both moved far away from each other so we'll have deep long talks over FaceTime when we catch up), but besides that it's just my partner who I've been with for years.

I recently moved to a suburban area in a new state so it's very hard to make new friends but I'm trying anyway! Feel for anyone who's in a similar place of trying to make new friends. Quality > quantity for me

Mainly just a few high school friends and my university roommates. Thank god for those relationships because it's so much harder to make friends after your 20s.

Also exacerbated by the fact that there's no social consequence for being a flaky friend.

Ggghhhh care to share?

I have one real, actual, active friend I share, spend time and talk honestly with all the time

Besides him, i have a few lifetime frienships kind on a frozen mode, people who dont live in the same country anymore but we eventually connect from time to time

And that's it

Ps. I dont know how people have the energy and the time to have so many friends and spend so much time with them i'm always busy?

Yeah quite a few. The thing is all adults want to make more friends, it's just people aren't brave enough to make the first move. If I meet someone that I vibe with I'll just straight up ask them if they want to meet up again. Almost everyone is receptive. You've just got to be prepared to put a bit of effort in.

Zero. The few friends I had have drifted apart over the past few years, for the dumbest reasons. I mean, I enjoy solitude and I'm fine with my own company, but I miss having girlfriends to do fun/silly things with like hanging out, going to a café, clubbing... Honestly, sometimes it hurts to think that I currently have no friends to count on, but I avoid letting it show because I'd hate it if someone were to befriend me just out of pity or anything. Seeing acquaintances I follow on Instagram posting hangouts with their friends makes me wonder why my own friendships have fallen through.

I used to have lots of very close friends, now at 27 I really only have like 3. I feel good about it. I actually feel that I've kinda had enough of chasing approval of friends, always been an introvert, and like the peace and increased time for nerdy things
