AOTY isnt impossible either. With 10 albums being nominated, you dont need that massive of a voting share to win. I would say well more than enough people dont care that she already has 3, that's its possible.

I guess everyone has different opinions but I genuinely think Midnights is easily her best pop album. And judging by the success and acclaim it's clear that it is a pretty common opinion that Midnights is a great record.

Taking time don't guarantee a better album though. She wrote folklore and evermore in a very short period of time and they are absolute masterpiece. 

I just know Scott cackled when Lover broke the 1 million streak just for her to shatter all of her first week numbers from her Big Machine era 3 years later with Midnights

I've only heard some songs off each album so I don't know the full picture but from my taste it would be

i have a really hard time ranking the pop albums. 1989 is a clear #1 for me but the other three are very close to each other and all have their highs and lows.

anti hero is really really a strong contender for SOTY. It would be her 7th nod in the category (a record for every songwriter, so very well discussed as record during the campaign) without a win.

 

Also now the string of nominations is very continuative

 

2020 lover

2021 cardigan

2023 atw

 

8 weeks at 1 and 23 and counting weeks in the top 10. Right now I don't see any stronger contender in the category...while ROTY is for kill bill, as AOTY for SZA.

 

for pop album right now a win for midnights seems also the safer choice since when miley didn't have any relevant impact with the whole album.

I think all the others relevant pop releases of the year (olivia, dua etc.) will come after the summer.

imo the switch to 10 nominees in general field will result in way more odd-ball wins like we saw with Jon and Bonnie, the vote is split so many ways that a strong niche can carry you to victory now. 

imo the best move would be to only drop SN(TV) this year, sometime in Q4. 

dragging out the re-records would actually be quite smart in my opinion, since it provides a fantastic boost to the album's interest.

As we can see on the bb200, 1989 & reputation are still going very strong, and don't need any sort of spike rn. I think the best move would be to let them continue to run their course since the TVs will do nothing substantial for them other than gutting the OG version's chart-run (Plus, the 1989 singles are so strong and the gp generally still use OG version of the singles, so i could actually see it holding onto the bottom of the bb200 even with the TV smashing in the top 40)

Mind you the voting process has apparently “changed” within the last two (?) Grammys I guess that didnt stop Harry’s mediocre offering from winning AOTY though
