IMO the deluxe tracks aren't excellent enough for everyone to like them but for me, they actually made me feel more reassured than IKIIKY did.

From the first listen, I really like Patient Zero, it's a chill autumn bop and I also like Babylon, much better lyrics wise than anything on the standard edition in my opinion.

It's great to have 4 new Taylor tracks going into this time of year

I'd be OK if she's done with Max Martin now. And his drum machine.

I like Patient Zero, Pink Clouding and Babylon (this one especially) but one of my main criticism of her being too wordy still stands - it just doesnt work in pop music imo. I wish she should sing more instead of talk singing, let the melodies and production breathe.

But also one reason why a lot of people will always be disappointed with her new music is they expect instant classic pop perfection like Style or Blank Space as if it is that easy to make songs like that Not every new song - especially in a discography that is 12 albums deep atp - will be her best song ever .. and thats OKAY!

definitely happy with the deluxe tracks (lets not forget that these also also only deluxe tracks after all) and excited to keep listening

as a Max hater, as you all know, I’m saying this isn’t half as bad as people are trying to make it to be. Do we need them to keep collaborating? No, we need fresh producers, but Patient Zero is crack. Pink Clouding is incredible, Cleveland is cute and Babylon is amazing

I've realized the drumkit he uses in a lot of the production on Showgirl is kind of an immediate criticism I have with some songs and probably why I dislike the production the way that I do on tracks that features it in a more prominent way. But I also am not really someone who particularly is super fond of Max's work outside of his more ambient synth work with Taylor, like So It Goes, Don't Blame Me, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, and other similar soundscapes, which are among my favorites in her discography.

Overall these tracks do improve how I feel about Showgirl, but I've had an ebbing relationship with Showgirl since its release and landed on finding it overall a fun album to listen to. I have returned to it more than I thought I would upon its initial release. I think these new tracks elevate the album a bit and probably push it up a ranking on my personal rank list, but that just means I like it more than Lover now...

I didn't really enjoy The Tortured Poets Department besides a few songs and i didn't make that my entire personality for the entire first year of release like some others seem to do

i love all these songs except Cleveland! so idk why the dramatics r happening but

Cleveland is actually my favorite out of this bunch, I have no idea why anyone would dislike it. Very euphoric. Pink Clouding is also great.

they're certainly not bad, like they're solid tracks, some significantly better than others. but this deluxe obviously had like one intention, and it's a bit worrying that this is what she cooks up to deliver that. like this is literally the best she could do and it's just not great you knoww

but i hope this is a farewell to max and pop music in general. her lyricism just does not usually shine on pop music, obviously with a fare few exceptions. i think that comes with the songwriting process, cause i think she usually makes a melody topline then writes over it when doing pop, especially with max. meanwhile other albums prioritised lyrics first. i hope her next album is a return to the grand and expensive instrumentation that we saw on her first 4 records, where there was room for upbeat songs that emphasised the lyrics more.

all max has is his legacy, like he truly has lost it. even ES production was not interesting at all, and i believe ilya did a lot of the heavy lifting. like he's a legend but as katy said 'fabulous for a throwback!'
