The World Cup ended 3 weeks ago, and Latin America doesnt really hold on to World Cup music for months after the tournament like Europe does. This should have come out the Friday after the final the latest!

That's quite a simplist way to put it. Peron himself took a lot of things off of Mussolini's playbook regarding how a state should be handled, but he also differed on a lot of things. And even though he came from militar background and got in power as part of a dictatorship, he earned public approval by granting progressive rights to the working class, which helped him win elections later on. Peronism in its own right has also been kind of a shapeshifter movement -with the exception of Menem's presidency which kind of had nothing to do with the core values of it- and has always attempted to go in the direction society at large was needing at the certain moment. Under Peronism, aided by Eva Peron, women suffrage became law at a federal level in 1947. Under Peronism in 1949, Universities became free of charge for everyone, which up to this day makes the Argentinian college-level education unique in the region and also benefits citizens from neighboring nations that don't get such a thing in their own countries. And class segregation started to diminish as the working class started accessing stuff that was once reserved to the elites, such as vacationing, tourism and entertainment. Our public healthcare system, also one of the country's most remarkable qualities, was also achieved during the Perón presidency. He definitely had authoritarian qualities to himself, which were consistent with where the world was at the time, but modern day Peronism (especially from Nestor Kirchner onwards) dropped basically all of it. Under the Kirchner presidencies (2003-2007 for Nestor Kirchner, 2007-2015 for Cristina Kirchner) a country destroyed by neoliberalism came back from the ashes by returning to the core values of Peronism of rebuilding our industries, granting people the ability to work and progress, and the country was back. But they built a lot of consensus with other parties to get there. Under the Kirchner terms, a lot of public policies to grant access to better cars, technology, home ownership were developed, as well as a program to grant laptop computers for high-school students at a federal level (over 5 Million computers were given). We also became one of the first countries to grant Same-Sex Marriage at a federal level, with Cristina Kirchner remarkably taking two legislators who opposed it on an official trip so they wouldn't get to vote against it. Even during the mostly unremarkable and disappointing presidency of Alberto Fernandez (2019-2023) Peronism managed to grant Free and Safe Legal Abortion by law. Nowadays Peronism has a lot of problems that are extremely disappointing and contributed to Milei winning, but it's important to know how we got here because there's nothing "wrong" with people for supporting a movement that has granted access to stuff for everyone that most of y'all don't get in your countries.

I just looked it up and it's a chart hosted by the official broadcast that takes streaming and sales into account, but unlike the official chart, they also include airplay from affiliated stations that broadcast the chart countdown

Ahi and Matadora are definitely weak singles. Still is gorgeous but i can see why people are not clicking with it, at least not yet. Haven't heard the rest yet, but sounds kinda promising. I think this will be one of those underperforming eras i actually really like like A.K.A. and Britney Jean

To be fair, his opposition are also not helping themselves these days. Several Peronist legislators and mayors spent the last few days insulting their own voter base because they dared to question how they handle themselves in the Senate As someone on Twitter said, Milei is doing a great effort to lose and Peronism is making just as great of an effort not to win. Awful times really

The US used to live for this particular type of song in the mid-2000s. But it also kind of aged the worst out of all music from that time.

On July 15th, Argentina wins against England in the World Cup Semi-Finals, which ended with the iconic "Las Malvinas Son Argentinas" flag being flaunt by Argentina's official team. Up until that point, Javier Milei had been using the World Cup as a distraction to have whatever discussion he felt like having in Congress with it not reaching the mainstream. Bad news though, the very next day, on July 16th, the "Inviolability of Private Property Bill" was supposed to be discussed at the Argentinian Senate. This bill planned, among many other things, to eliminate current restrictions on foreign ownership of Argentinian land (there's currently a limitation of 15% of all national territory, 15% of a province, and 15% of a department for foreign owners) and also eliminate limitations on what you can do after protected land was burnt on fire, to prevent people from intentionally starting fires to make business afterwards. This was flying completely under the radar, but local activists saw the opportunity to link this event to the bill that was supposed to be discussed the next day under the premise "The Malvinas are Argentinian. Our land and resources too". This caught on so much that they had to delay the discussion until August 6th. Up until then, Milei's administration proposed to increase the restrictions -instead of eliminating them- to 25% on National Territory and each province, but deleting the Department part. And a day before Senate was supposed to discuss it, they deleted that whole part altogether but left the rest, in an attempt to reduce backlash as this entire bill was unpopular even among the people that voted for him. However that didn't work, leading up to August 6th, most mainstream artists in our country -even those that don't usually involve themselves in political discussions-, influencers, sports figures, etc were calling for people to join the march in front of Congress, and even though there was heavy rain that day, a lot of people gathered there. Very early on, police started to try and scare people off by attacking people nearby (but not in the actual place where most people were gathering) as their allies on TV heavily reported this to prevent more people from joining. But people still weren't leaving and more were joining. This led to one of the most violent crackdowns in recent memory near 5pm (when most people were getting out of work and therefore potentially join those already at Congress), with police starting to throw tear gas, shooting people with rubber bullets, water cannon trucks and hunting people for almost 10 blocks away from Congress, even in roads that were actually open to traffic, buses and pedestrians. It is estimated that at least 1.500 people were injured, including a photographer who had to be taken to the hospital with a skull fracture, and local businesses being affected after police threw tear gas inside of the building affecting workers and destroying private property. Now, the goverment is trying to further scare people of from future protests by filing criminal complaints against protesters, asking for up to 30 years in jail for them.
