Is there an Anti Taylor?

Featured Replies

Whenever an impactful game changing  artist comes out, record labels are quick to follow the blueprint and promote their own version just a few years later. But they are also just as quick to find an "anti" version.  Madonna comes out, then comes Whitney Houston. Britney? We see Pink and Avril Lavigne. Beyonce would probably be Alicia Keys though she happened regardless as she came out first. Gaga? Arguably Lorde and Adele. Some are more blatant than others.

Is there an anti Taylor? If so, who are they?

the weeknd - even tho their label mates if u factor in success, acclaim, touring, vocal skill, lyrical content.

Can't think of anyone that debuted when she did.

I think Chappell and the culture around her is kind of like the anti Taylor.

She's also very confrontational, isn't afraid of swaying public image (something Taylor has always been concerned about), and generally anti embracing fame and the culture it has given her.

Well they are anti-Taylor! They are cool and talented!

No one, An anti-Taylor would have to be someone like Avril Lavigne who was marketed as an Anti-Britney, it was more intentional it worked at the time.

Billie is not an anti-taylor because she was not molded after Taylor, no one was thinking about Taylor when Billie debuted and was marketed

She has none because she's too generic. The opposite of zero is zero

Rihanna. The anti-opposite of white is black
and Rihanna is very unapologetic and far less sanitized-pastel-not family friendly like taylor.
She's definitely totally her opposite and i think Rihanna is cordial to taylor but far away from her cause they dont have too much in common

Her white-anti is definitely Madonna.
I dont see taylor doin something like this. She would be terrified. Personalities and fanbases too different too
Madonna is like the Sun of the Top females and Taylor the Moon
Both probably the largest female singers in history but with different paths

Another anti of Taylor is definitely. Miley Cyrus
Their personalities feel very opposite

and Taylor counterparts are definitely singers like Adele, Beyonce,Shakira,
Very classy. Very proper and family friendly. They have their sexyness but they keep things very soft
Chaos is not definitely a word i would associate with them

Taylor's not really doing something so unique that you could even do the opposite of it.

If you want to make it a stretch, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan were the anti-Taylor's because they rejected crossing over to pop and said they wanted to stay in the country music world.

Taylor becoming the industry blue print :clap3:

"Some people are just so ruthless with their own private life, that they decide to put it all out in a song because they know that it is going to attract people's attention. And me, it was always important for me to make music that people really loved. Not because I was putting somebody out on blast. Not because I'm doing it for the clickbait, at somebody else's expense."

Billie Eilish. Good music, not affraid to experiment sonically, not catering to kids, maturity etc.

or as Madonna would say, "nothing equals nothing".
