Will ATRL ever like Katy Perry again?

Featured Replies

Katy Perry has been facing significant backlash recently, primarily due to her new single "Woman's World" and its accompanying music video. The video, which was intended to be a satirical take on feminist themes, has been criticized for its hyper-sexualized imagery and perceived pandering to the male gaze. Despite Perry's explanations on Twitter/X that the video was meant to be humorous and satirical, many fans and critics have not been convinced, labeling it as "cringe" and "desperate" (EW.com/news.com.au).

Additionally, the involvement of Dr. Luke, a controversial producer with a history of sexual misconduct allegations, in the production of "Woman's World" has further fuelled the backlash. This collaboration has been seen as a misstep, especially given the song's feminist messaging (MSN/Sportskeeda).

The single has also performed poorly on the charts, debuting at a low position and failing to capture public interest. This has been a setback for Perry, who was hoping for a successful comeback with her upcoming album "143," set to be released on September 20, 2024 (The Sun/New York Post).

Perry used to be a household name and a mainstay on the ATRL forums, but it seems like she has lost the majority of her fan base. As a pop music forum, ATRL has always been a place for honest and sometimes ruthless discussions about the industry and its artists. So, the question remains: Will ATRL ever like Katy Perry again? Despite her past successes and undeniable impact on pop culture, has she crossed a line that cannot be forgiven? Or, is there still hope for her to redeem herself and win back the hearts of her fans?

Maybe if she expresses sincere regret for working with Dr Luke. But it's obvious this saga has taken a severe hit to her reputation among pop culture fans, and it's not like the GP has been checking for her for years now anyway. I don't think she'll work with him again but without contrition the damage is done.

If she stops chasing memes, makes authentic music, stops working with dr. puke, leaves the politics to people who will adress the problems in the society without satire, then why not?:suburban:

Her new music plain sucks. ATRL would be on their knees and ignore Dr. Luke if he gave Katy a "Say So" or "Super Freaky Girl."

I think the new wave of Dr. Luke proteges suck. Where the hell is Cirkut? Katy should just run to RedOne or something.

Katy Perry IS perfect the way she IS =D

ATRL will one day realise and celebrate this, and be thankful for the woman that simply served fun pop music for over a decade, only to met with endless scorn and criticism over what truly isn't that serious. Don't blame the crimes of men on innocent women.

The damage is already done we'll see how lucky she is if she ever gets to get out of The Tortured Nostalgia Acts Department

Pretty sure Katy had some goodwill here until she stupidly worked with Dr. Luke.

monsters and swifties are the biggest bases here, that's not ever happening unless that changes :rip:

ATRL literally never liked her even in her heyday :deadbanana4: She's always been either too successful or too unsuccessful for people to like her.

Even after witness Katy was still popular on atrl until she worked with Luke again. As this is a Brit website 90% are Kesha stans, the undercurrent finally changed for her on here

Atrl won't ever like her again, they love dragging pop girls way too much, I mean they drag girls who do nothing or mean harm, leave alone girls with dubious behaviour like Katy :rip:

of course this is coming from a Kim Petras stan. Would you work with a man who hurt an innocent woman? Katy is not innocent.

yes she get lot from other fanbases like Britney and Madonna.

They were rooting for her, before things went south with WW.

Never again just like how she will never chart on the hot 100 for over a week
