I was on my way to university today and headed into the busy-ass metro, with people packed around the elevators. Upon seeing that, I immediately changed course and aimed for the stairs instead, watching a few people practically fly down them like gravity had personally taken their side. There were a few people behind me, and I didn't want to hold anyone up, so I tried to match their pace and sort of "run" down the stairs too... except I literally could not. As I watched everyone else effortlessly glide down them, taking step after step without even seeming to think about where their feet were going, I became painfully aware that I had to consciously coordinate every single movement. The second I tried to speed up, my brain basically went absolutely not, and I had to slow back down and take the stairs at my own pace while everyone else continued descending like it was the easiest thing in the world. It was weird realizing that something so automatic for everyone else can require so much effort from you. What's a seemingly simple task that everyone else seems to do effortlessly, but you just… can't? It's time for... #AskATRL

Each morning of the week without fail, I'll go downstairs into my kitchen, soak some flocão (flaked cornmeal) in water & mix it with chili powder + salt, microwave it under a damp paper towel to steam it, then mix in butter, miso paste, and cheese, and top it 😉 with a crispy fried egg. Back in the early/mid-2010s, Tumblr felt like its own little music ecosystem. Artists like Halsey, The Neighbourhood, Lana, Arctic Monkeys, The 1975, Marina, etc. became huge within that particular online culture/aesthetic, and in some cases it felt like Tumblr helped propel them into the wider mainstream. Tumblr obviously doesn't have that kind of cultural power anymore, so... what's the modern-day equivalent? Who are the artists right now that feel like today's Halsey/The Neighbourhood, artists being adopted by a specific online youth subculture before everyone else catches on? And where is that happening now? TikTok? Stan Twitter? Niche Spotify communities? Somewhere else? Basically: if it were 2014, who would Tumblr be obsessed with right now? It's time for... #AskATRL
