Well yes, it is dumb and we shouldn't be coming for Gaga all the time I guess, but there's still a very significant difference: The only 2 artists Shakira has ever collaborated with that are as big or even bigger than her were Beyoncé and Rihanna, and those songs aren't even Shakira's biggest hits. The only case we have like this for Gaga is Shallow, BC Bradley is no one in the music industry, but te song was still propelled by the movie. Bizarrap, Wyclef Jean, Fleshlygroud, Karol G and Burna Boy were and are still NOTHING (commercially speaking, not artistically) compared to Shakira. Most of those songs would've been just as successful without the featured artist, and they only have the feature as an artistic complement to the song. (E.g, the Bizarrap session isn't even a feature per se, he's literally just the producer of the song like Calvin is to Rihanna's We Found Love, or Red One is to Poker Face, he's just credited bc of the format of the release that helps him get promotion for his work as a producer/DJ). While I love Gaga and she's had plenty of hits on her own, I don't think Rain on Me or Die With a Smile would've been as big without the feature, because of how Gaga did with her solo songs in that moment, because of how prominently featured the other artists are in the songs, and in the case of Die with a Smile, it was mostly written by Bruno, has his signature style, and then she jumped on it (confirmed by them already), so basically it wouldn't even exist AT ALL without him, which isn't the case for songs like Dai Dai, Chantaje, Waka Waka, etc. (And Bruno is still the #1 artist in the world right now, just like Ariana was back when ROM was released, so…). Just saying. When have you seen ANY of those Shakira features getting to the top without her? She literally gave them their only WW hit 😂. Again, there's nothing wrong with features but that's the way it is. Shakira's features are like Just Dance, not like DWAS.

It honestly does. I love the production, the video is killer. The lyrics are great. And it doesn't have a part that's specific to this World Cup, like "This time for Africa". If you take the radio edit (the version she performed at the inauguration), and remove the bridge with the player's names, it becomes a universal anthem of motivation and hope. What's your point? Yes, English-speaking people listen to Spanish music like Bad Bunny and some Spanish Shakira songs that have charted in the past within the Hot 100 top 50. Likewise, multiple US artists are successful in Mexico and manage to chart songs in English, like Taylor, Gaga, etc. But with Shakira, they always demand music in Spanish, but they forget she's also international, and they have said she's sold out and betrayed her Latin roots when, IMO, that's not the case. I usually hate on Gaga but: 1) Rihanna IS NOT an artist. She's a singer who doesn't write ANY of the songs she sings (maybe contributes just a little, but not enough). She's not a performer either, she's lazy AF. She just has an amazing voice and she's pretty. 2) She's NOT more versatile because she's only been adapting to whatever trend was hot in the moment, Gaga has re-defined genres and broken boundaries in lots of ways. Gaga is a real artist and she has real versatility. Keep you dumb post to yourself and sit down.
