Okay final prediction is actually gonna be Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd

lets see how it ends up

I think it's between boygenius and Taylor. The grammys are racist so SZA won't win most likely (hope I'm wrong!) and Lana doesn't stand a chance, sadly.

Tbh I think it'll be MIDnights. people are underestimating it

Midnights if those Grammy voter statements are anything to go by :ryan3:

I'd be very surprised if it's not Taylor or SZA with Boygenius as a potential upset

How are people saying SZA:rip: No black woman, including thee Beyonce, has won since the 90s. Also more importantly, no modern r&b/hip hop influenced album has ever won. It's very obvious now that the Grammys only like R&B if has a strong throwback sound

Unpopular opinion but I truly think Lana will win this. Oscars love to do a “it was finally their time” wins (a la Jamie Lee Curtis or SOTY last year) and it’s no secret that Lana’s career has finally been critically accepted after so many years of not being taken seriously. This is her year.

Spoiler

Let me be delusional :chick1:

Similar to Outkast...Sza has pop, r&B, and hip hop appeal. AOTY support from Soul Train Award voters and BET award voters. She also has some rock votes too based on a feature or so...

Also, 25 years since the last black female won narrative is stronger than 4x AOTY winner for Taylor when we ALL know Taylor has the potential to win AOTY with a stronger record.

SHe doesn't have many votes being taken by Janelle Monae for vote splitting.

If not SZA, then Taylor due to her incredible achievements or BoyGenius due to less votesplitting.

Olivia's producer being in POTY too makes me think she will take a considerable amount of votes from Taylor. Miley is not taking as much as she will perform better in ROTY/Best pop solo.  Lana has an edge but Jon Batiste and Lana kind of have a similar thing for votesplitting.

Based on solid factors (artistry, acclaim, [crossover] appeal) and superficial factors (hits/success/impact):

Sza > Taylor > BoyGenius> Jon Batiste > Lana > Olivia > Miley >Janelle

Considering Taylor's year I believe it will go to Midnights.

Because it's long overdue and like Outkast Sza not only has crossover appeal with r&b, hip hop, pop, and rock voters...she is known as an artist and songwriter more than an entertainer.

I just looked at Wikipedia and Sza even with samples has a minimal amount of songwriters credited.

Sza didn't use any gimmicks, stunts, or break the internet moments which are great for promo but it does tend. to take away from the perception of artistry. Some people feel it cheapens the artistry. Not saying I agree all of the time but she doesn't have many factors taking away from her other than Taylor's immense popularity or if Janelle is a dark horse taking up more r&b an urban votes than anticipated.
