Why Maroon 5 are not a touring force?

Featured Replies

They have 20 years of career, unquestionably in the top 5 of the rock-pop acts with more global hits in this frame of time but, despite of how much easier is for bands to sell concert tickets, they are never turned into touring forces like for example Coldplay or Imagine Dragons. Their tour numbers are in the likes (or even worst) of bands like The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon or Jonas Brothers.

Why?.

  • I don't think ppl even know they are touring + they don't have the energy & visual of Coldplay's tour nor the striptease of Imagine Dragons

quick lil singles do not a touring act make

  • Imagine Dragons and Coldplay both know how to connect with their audiences and their fans. Plus their music has a distinctive personality.   Maroon 5 peaked in terms of quality with an album

My mom was a big fan of their music and went to see them and she was really disappointed with the show. Said there was no connection with the audience, said it seemed like Adam Levine didn't want to be there and was just going through the motions. Kind of put her off them completely.

So I'm guessing it's because they just don't put in the effort to put on a good show like Coldplay.

Just like how many hitmakers are not touring force.

You need connection with audience

Worst concert I’ve been to in my life. Was expecting an amazing show because they have so many hits. There was zero interaction with the fans. Adam went from song to song without any chatting. His attitude was like he didn’t want to be there. He even called some fans “motherfuckers for having their phones out and filming vs enjoying the show.” I get that sentiment, but it’s a concert, did he expect people to put their phone in a locker? :psyduck:

He only cared about the fame eventually  and the perks it gives him. It shows.

Because they suck and people do not care for them? The worst halftime show like ever also didn't help :bird:

Maroon 5 peaked in terms of quality with an album that came out 20 years ago and most of the stuff since then has been generic faceless radio music.

The lead singer is also a very important factor in a band. People actually like Chris Martin and Dan Reynolds. Adam Levine on the other hand seems insufferable and he's always been very high on his own supply.

I agree!

I haven’t seen Coldplay live (yet) but I’ve seen Imagine Dragons 3 times and they put on such a great show. Dan is extremely energetic and engages with the audience so I’m not shocked they’ve been able to grow with each era and get to the point they are now which is being able to play in stadiums and headline festivals.

It also helps that Dan is a really nice person and does a lot for the LGBT+ community whilst also being an advocate for male mental health as he’ll frequently talk about how much therapy worked for him and how life is worth living, I’ve actually teared up listening to some of his speeches lol.

I saw a few videos from their set at The Town festival and Adam apparently didn't wanted to be there, then he took off his shirt just like in the Super Bowl, it gave me one trick pony vibes. I can't speak for Imagine Dragons, but when I saw Coldplay they were so happy and grateful to be performing that it didn't even seemed those were the 71st and 72nd shows of the tour. It's impossible to not connect with their joy, and as the frontman, Chris can carry the whole show with his charisma alone.

They seem virtually identical to Imagine Dragons. Dan has so much energy when he performs on tour, it’s like every show is the kick off show, he just doesn’t let up and he really gets the entire crowd involved. They recently released a live tour / documentary on Hulu / Disney+ from their show in Vegas and at one point Dan gets off stage to run around the stadium in the crowd whilst still singing live, he’s a mad man.

Watch from 2:45 and he’s done this at multiple shows! :gaycatx:

ppl still remember the super-bowl :rip: they are a GP artist whereas coldplay and ID have built a very strong fanbase and are known for putting on an amazing show.

i saw them on a festival and even though i didn't even wanna go but they were actually great, i forgot i knew so many songs and adam was cool. tho coldplay and ID are on a completely different level.

their music always replied on the gp post songs about jane. they always managed to score a hit every era but that was purely driven by radio or random gp interest in the song rather than them as a band. no audience retention

I think their lack of personality (musically) stopped them from having a loyal fanbase.
