Listening to her older catalogue for the first time in a while and it's crazy how much deeper and huskier her voice is now, she almost sounds like a different person on songs like Wrecking Ball and I never really noticed before as it seemed to happen gradually. Her voice was always beautiful, but the tone she has developed now is so unique and special

Her voice sounds so deep and rich on the verses of Flowers right? 

Sorry if this has been discussed at length already, but can someone explain how she got away with not sampling Bruno Mars? They sound the exact same to me

I’ve been thinking about this since she dropped Midnight Sky. Since her vocal surgery, her voice is so much more gravely and sultry, perfect for rock music. It’s so beautiful. I hear such a stark difference in her voice between her music post-2019 and before, that it’s almost hard for me to listen to her old stuff cuz I wish it had that deeper, grungier quality like her new stuff

It doesn't.  There is just a similarity to lyrics in the chorus to "When I Was Your Man". So there's nothing to 'get away with'.

Because it doesnt. Its called an answer song. Its not a sample and it sounds nothing like brunos song melodically. Its not hard to get. 

Y’all need to stop getting so defensive when a person innocently asks about the parallels between Flowers and WIWYM.

 

The melody and chord progression of the chorus is nearly identical to WIWYM and the lyrics are a call-back, so of course people will assume it was intentional/sampled. That’s okay. Plenty of songs sound alike and Miley is smashing because she’s a talented singer and just put out a timeless song. People noticing the obvious similarities isn’t mean and you can respond to them without being delusional.   They’re very similar and that’s a-okay.
