Miichael Posted January 17, 2023 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Listening to her older catalogue for the first time in a while and it's crazy how much deeper and huskier her voice is now, she almost sounds like a different person on songs like Wrecking Ball and I never really noticed before as it seemed to happen gradually. Since her vocal surgery, her voice is so much more gravely and sultry, perfect for rock music. It’s so beautiful. The melody and chord progression of the chorus is nearly identical to WIWYM and the lyrics are a call-back, so of course people will assume it was intentional/sampled. That’s okay. Plenty of songs sound alike and Miley is smashing because she’s a talented singer and just put out a timeless song. People noticing the obvious similarities isn’t mean and you can respond to them without being delusional. They’re very similar and that’s a-okay.
