Miley - 'Bass Persuades'
ESV (and SB) was such a choke-job and insane bungling of the Flowers hype, although her goodwill seems kinda flop-resistant, as in she always has industry respect and stays a houshold name even without constant success. So I hope this manages to be a smash era for her, she's very talented and we have to stan that

- Why was Lorde's "Royals" considered such a turning point for pop music?
Sure, 2015/2016 had the last burst of ~fun pop, although it was still less maximalist than 5 years before, but Royals was kinda the template of where the mainstream would go as the decade progressed. Lowkey production, songs that are more rhymtic than melodic, moody, more personal and introspective / less glamourous lyrics, those avocado vocals, etc. Yeah there were Adele and Bruno who also didn't do the electro-pop, but Royals was the first example of the 'colder' turn for the mainstream music that would come. I'd include the trap fad that plagued us in here too, and while of course Royals isn't that, it's much closer to it in vibes than idk Rolling In The Deep. (Or anything by Bron To Die for that matter lmao why are her stans polluting this thread).- Gaga performing at crypto billionaire's wedding in Italy

I have a gripe with the modern trend of textless covers as it is, but completely shunning original aesthetics feels sacrilegious omg. Updating them a bit, sure, but just tacking on the current era style is crazy. Would've something like this really been that bad- Dolly Parton has died, aged 80
