Now idk if I would rank SIO 1st among these singles but I love someone showing appreciation cuz it's indeed a brilliantly produced pop sing

True. The 1989 singles have some of the worst production and chorus melodies of any song I’ve ever heard

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is far and away her second best song, just after This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things.

 

Meanwhile there are zero good songs on 1989

in your wildest dreams they are 

I Knew You Were Trouble and Bad Blood are mysteries to me. I will never understand the appeal these songs have. To me they are among the worst songs she's ever put out.

You made some points i guess.  Red is the better album anyways. 1989 has only 2 solid Bops blank space and style.

Nah, 1989 wins easily 

 

I don't feel super confident to make a ranking at the moment, but in my opinion, while "1989" has the weakest single of the bunch ("Bad Blood" - a career low for Swift), its highs are undeniable and surpass those from "Red". 

 

I really enjoy all three pop singles from "Red", don't get me wrong, but I feel they haven't held up as well in comparison to those from the follow-up album. For me, it seems Taylor, Max Martin, and Shellback were still finding their footing and figuring out how to best execute Swift's shift to straightforward pop, and as a result these songs feel less 'polished' and more transitional in sound and melodies. Also, despite the inspired integrated country elements (especially on "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"), the new poppier elements felt like Max and Shellback were playing it safe with what was working for them at the time, so while very nostalgic, these three singles feel more like products of their time.

 

Meanwhile, the singles from "1989" felt much fresher sonically amongst the current pop landscape. "Blank Space", "Style", and "Wildest Dreams" in particular are simply phenomenal tunes and immaculately crafted on all aspects, all following a clear and unique vision of what Taylor wanted for her take on pop music. "Out Of The Woods" and "Shake It Off" are also excellently produced and feature infectious melodies, and I'll always defend the latter for being such a fun and feel-good tune.

 

And that's not even getting into "New Romantics", which deserved to be massive and become Taylor's signature song.
