Quite happy that the singles were mostly red herrings (especially on the night side — Don't Leave Me on the Dance Floor might be in her all-time bottom 5). Very nice album. Mother.

This post, while technically true, doesn't really apply to the actual debate here, and could just as well be used as a defense of Pink, Ed Sheeran, or Debra Messing. Almost nobody in the American mainstream supports genocide (at least not publicly), but the discourse is still heavily shaped by bad actors still framing the mass casualties at Israel's hands as tragic collateral damage of necessary military retaliation against Hamas. Yes, it's all bull****, but Western news media by and large are still not calling it a genocide, nor are most American politicians. Whether Gaga supports genocide in general is not seriously being debated here. What's being debated is whether Gaga is sticking her head in the sand, willfully ignorant of or turning a blind eye to reality so as not to alienate future paying customers or concert bookers or whatever the case may be. And given that Gaga has in the past given her unequivocal support to Israel, it's not unreasonable to question whether she still maintains that position. I can forgive her for not knowing in 2013 Israel's already long list of crimes against the Palestinian people (I didn't know either), back when calling for a Free Palestine was still a relatively fringe position and the entire western media apparatus still had a firm lid on criticism of Israel. But the cat's out of the bag now, and the only people who don't know there's a genocide are people who don't want to.

I mean she probably is or at least was but at least she (assuming she even has a meaningful amount of input in these selections) seems moveable, or at least not Pink levels of militant. This thread is celebrating like the absolute bare minimum. This could have been seen as a bold thing to do like four years ago back when Dua Lipa was getting nominated for "Antisemite of the Year" for calling to save Sheikh Jarrah, but the public sentiment and Overton Window have moved so much that this barely even qualifies as lip service.

This. Her music's been pretty consistently washed since (and including) Crash. A few okay singles here and there but otherwise yeah as a Day 1 Angel I've outgrown her

This is bad but I am little perched for wherever she's going with this. I've been kind of over her since Crash but I could see her reeling me back in with something adjacent to Sucker, still her most underrated album. The self-referentiality is very tired though.
