well that’s kinda short to launch a single

they should just wait which songs get streamed the most :michael:

BMS came out 1 month before the album, on June 20.

Doesn't that make it 6 weeks before Friday 29th?

6 weeks is enough to launch a single successful imo.

Chart followers, can someone break it down pls: is #1 feasible for BMS?

I'm so satisfied with BMS current run (as I honestly am still pinching myself that a solo Bey song is performing so well in 2022), but I'm seeing a lot of posts in the single thread about Top 5 being its ultimate goal post with album boost... with a few "possible top 3" sprinkled in.

Am I right to assume that #1 is plausible if a) the album boost is bigger than we thought, b) video drops and c) other metrics like radio sustain or lift slightly?

I'm not fussed as both ST and Lemonade excelled with one top 10, but I'd of course want the #1 if it were in reach.

That puta is still shooting scenes? We literally have 5 days left :jonnycat:

I’m mad she snatched the BET Awards of Deja Vu performance off of YouTube, but at least that iconique dancing gif came outta this one. Rent was definitely due during the B’Day era :jonny5:

It appears it was misinterpreted by OP on Twitter:

Not sure who either of them are (the person who allegedly saw or the person refuting), but the person refuting seems pretty resolute about Bey being in the Hamptons.

I definitely think it is. I believe a lot of us are underestimating Beyoncé’s chart power. Albums are her strong point, the streams and sales from album release week will give BMS a second wind. It also boils down to her core fans. They need to buy the song. She already gave us two alternative versions to purchase.

Yes, it's feasible if it gains consequently on streaming and sales.

I also disagree with the discourse that a Bey's song reaching top 10 is such an extraordinary feat, it's not. Formation, Hold Up and Sorry would have been multiple-weeks-top 5 songs with Formation and HU being surefire #1. That's why I always wanted her to release a solo song. With a video and promotion she would have already been top 3 and maybe even more. Some underestimate her because tbh the last decade she has done a shitty job at maximazing her reach.

I agree. Bey could have been having 10 hits like it’s nothing if she just released her songs like a normal person.

I know people hate on the gift, but I personally love that album. And the fact that Tems just got a huge moment on the new blank panther trailer and Beyoncé’s My Power was used in the Woman King Trailer it’s impact that is something not felt right away. I’m so happy Bey did that album.

And the new Wakanda Forever trailer OMG. ?? I can’t wait to hear what Bey and Tems sound like together.

Most Hives love TG though. That has always been my impression, only a few didn't care for it. EIL is the one where the response is stronger on the negative.

I do love TG and I have been quite vocal about my love for FYWB and Otherside in particular since the beginning. I, however do not like Spirit + BSG and I don't bother with M4E.

If I see another R&B is dead recommended video on YouTube I swear:toofunny3:

I hear you.

I think with Bey I'd kind of internalised and accepted a few realities:

* She's an album artist first and foremost (which is why, during all these meltdowns with others, I continue to stand firm on my belief that her team won't mess up what is their ultimate priority -- album sales).

* In being an album artist and visual artist, she'd just keep dropping visual albums and let whichever song/video the public take to being worked as the "single"

* She still gets the need to compete commercially, so would occasionally swoop down for "quick lil single" collaborations to keep her streaming stock hot by strategically using the heat of others. Savage, Perfect, Mi Gente being prime examples. This isn't even shade either. I think for as much as she's given the industry, she actually deserves to benefit from this.

Her leaning in and actually dropping a solo single was always a risk. A Black, female R&B star in her 40s does not scream guaranteed Pop/mainstream hit. Even for a "Beyonce". Especially in an industry that is still ageist, racist in some corners, and one that has appeared eager to humble her in absence of any real scandal.

BMS being a success what not a given at all IMO.

I'm glad she took the risk though, because not only has it worked, but I feel that it will instil more confidence in her and her team to PLAY THE GAME and actively use singles to ignite buzz for the album. Just like before.

I love Bey the artist, but I almost more so love the idea that her and her team (for all the critiques) are not aloof about her shortcomings.

Around 4, it became clear she had an uphill struggle getting those big IASF-type hits. So they pivoted and drove in a different direction (edgy album artist) before they were forced to figure it out.

Ever since, they've shown a masterclass in working her L's into W's. Some Olivia Pope type ish. Solo singles not surefire to succeed? Say hello to Savage, Perfect etc that the unassuming GP just see as "another Beyonce hit". The aftermath of TG and EIL were carefully stage managed too. In simply paying them dust (annoyingly to us), it minimised the possibility of any widespread narrative of "flop" around Bey's name. She gave "unbothered", which only stood to reaffirm her regal positioning. Other acts, who aren't as careful and ARE SEEN TO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND to save a sinking ship of a project, not only get the "flop" tag they are rarely able to shake it off.

TG is a top tier album, always has been. Most people complaining never bothered to listen to it. Find Your Way Back, Bigger, Water and that Spirit Acapella version are amongst Beyoncé's best songs.

For what it’s worth, Rami Yacoub is credited on Alien Superstar and he is a Swedish producer and has worked with Max Martin on BOMT, IGBM, etc back in the late 90s/00s. If Max happens to be an unlisted credit(for now) on any song, I think it’s that one.

having said that, I don’t think he is on the album at all. It would be weird for her to not include his credit when so many were revealed already.

All of this!

That’s what’s been my frustration with her last two eras. The reach both albums/singles could have had.

Frustrated I Can Not GIF by Anabell

I think a huge issue with being an albums artist is that sometimes their legacies feel understated. I don't like that many of Beyoncé's biggest performances aren't officially uploaded to YT. Even a professionally shot video of the Formation Tour would suffice.

She's felt inaccessible for a while and it's allowed her to ascend to almost pop deity status, but at the same time her elusiveness has sort of muddied certain aspects of her legacy.

The truth is, it's been a while since Beyoncé has had a "hit", BMS is the first song in a while that non fans are acutely aware of. Drunk In Love was the last song she had that felt like a hit. Nothing off of Lemonade was really a hit, and that's thanks to her sabotage :rip:

I just want to have a proper era, and I'd love a late night interview, since they're typically more laid back. I understand that's asking for a lot with her though :rip:

I understand what Lemonade era songs could have been. But they were not.

There is no other way to view BMS other than a triumph. We are coming for a top 5 on the hot 100 and we haven’t had that since 2014.

Yes her stronger point is albums however we have to be mindful of the fact that even within the last two years the industry has changed a little. Adele did great and even her album power still wasn’t as big as we thought it would be. Same with Kendrick.

I have already pre ordered the album and I’m curious if a large amount  of people have as well? However, I feel like we would have heard news regarding a large amount of pre orders if that were the case.  IDK, things seem unpredictable right now.

I think the hive could literally send BMS to its highest of heights if we organized. I have a spare laptop, and can situated in another room in the house and be unbothered.  I could create a playlist on Spotify with several songs so the BMS stream 500 times a day. If we all did that we could make an impact.

I just want us to do the most but we all gotta do it for it to matter.

Regarding the Beyoncé being 40 discourse I think its important to understand that Beyoncé's branding is not reliant on how youthful she looks. She's always been beautiful and instead of youth she embodies energy and power, something not even the 20 something popgirls have.

She has always looked hot, whether in her teens, 20s, 30s and even now. No one hears 'Beyoncé' and goes 'yeah shes too old to be making bangers' and not to mention how reclusive she is. She appears every now and then in remixes and reminds people shes there but not enough that people go 'wait isnt she too old to be running with the it rappers and girlies?'.

Not to mention she sparsely makes public appearances and it makes her more elusive as a brand and more desirable regardless of what her actual age is.

Ageism is a reality but Beyoncé refuses to act like its a thing and its why it never caught up with her. She resists the age ceiling being built around women and the fact that BMS is a potential runner for #1, a solo single, 25 years into her career, is proof of that.
