I only buy CD's for my absolute fave albums (1-2 or no skips) or regional exclusives which I realized recently is basically on average once a year.

Last one I bought was Confessions II, but before that it was almost a year ago with a Japanese edition of TLOASG cause I was in Japan during it's release.

Since I switched to streaming I have not bought a single CD, Vinyl or any of that. I also haven't bought any merch or gone to any concert. So my faves better appreciate the few cents they get from my streams because that's all the money they're gonna get from me

Physical media other than books is just clutter imo. I buy signed CDs or other rare collectibles but then they just rot in storage. I literally keep my physical video games in a drawer out of view too, and those have a use unlike CDs and records in the streaming age.

But not as much as I used to.

Also the flop artists I love release one variant of the stuff they put out or are too poor to even put a vinyl out. Makes my life easier as a fan.

There's gotta be more to life, than chasing down, every variant, of a vinyl, released by a hoeeee..

I collect both CDs and some vinyl.

For CDs I've slowly bought my favorites over time both online or in store if I see them. I like to grab Japanese editions when available because I think the OBIs on the side are cool. Also, thrift stores sell CDs ranging from like $.25~1 so I've picked up a lot of ones there that I might not have thought to get otherwise. Usually I'll scan everything I get onto my PC in .flac after, too so that I can preserve the files.

Vinyl I'll get for all time favorites. I recently purchased Kylie Minogue's Light Years in a reprint which I was really happy about.

Not really. I just don't see the appeal of physical media over digital nowadays.

The only physical albums I've ever bought were

Not much. Only studio albums for my absolute favourite artist, Lady Gag. 🥰

I have TF, TFM, BTW, AP, J, C, M, her jazz colab albums with Mr. Tony, Harlequin, and ASIB ost. That's all.

I gave up on buying music physically a few years back. CDs didn't seem worth collecting and vinyl is too expensive of a hobby to get into.

I only buy physical copies of my absolute favorite books.

I have a bit of a physical movie collection, but I haven't added to it in a while. I have a whole list of favorites that I'd like to get someday, though.

For me, the distinction with books, is that you don't need external devices to use them. Most pop music vinyl collectors don't even own a turntable, and if they do it's a $99 Bluetooth one from Best Buy that objectively sounds worse than any other music format. A book is a full and complete way to conveniently consume the media within.
