If you go back to the time of Illit's debut, there were loads of K-netz and global fans alike pointing out both aesthetic and musical similarities, starting with their appearance at fashion week where news outlets mixed them up. This was happening before Min Heejin ever said anything herself. This wasn't some K-pop girl group primordial soup like you're saying. People very much knew Newjeans and their sound. Moving the bar and saying that Magnetic had to play into a specific rip-off is again, just dishonest about how people felt at the time of their debut. While I'm not on board with that "destiny swapping" buzzterm that emerged recently, Tokkis have every right to remain upset with what transpired. Not only that, but Gllits have had to remain in constant defense since their debut too thanks to the root of it all: Hybe blowing up an internal complaint that should have been handled privately. Thanks to them for the rest of Illit's career you will be having to continue defending against copycat allegations, no matter how far they've strayed from their debut's sound and aesthetic. Additionally If you parse through and search for the worst of the worst of either fanbase, genuinely neither is better than the other in that sense. Literally a mid-off. Your entire argument here relies on continuing to downplay what the environment was actually like at the time of Illit's debut and calling people crazy. It's not very convincing.

I don't think that Get Up sounds like it either, but acting like Magnetic couldn't be confused as a NewJeans song by the average listener when Illit debuted is totally dishonest lol

It is pretty obvious that Hybe/Belift used that fashion week opportunity to convolute the two as exposure for their debut. Not to mention Magnetic sounds sonically similar enough to where the average listener could (and did!) mistake it for Newjeans. I don't know why people believe that downplaying this makes it not true. I've said this before but beyond some sporadic ragebait I don't even find Illit's concept now that similar to Newjeans. However, at debut there was absolutely an intent to confuse people to build their foundation. A lot of groups become derivative of each other in every gen yeah, but it was pretty early for this to start. Not to mention under the same umbrella label, which then brings in the topic of self-cannibalization. Anyway none of us are ever gonna really agree with each other and everyone is ultimately talking to separate walls in a room lol

I think it is just discrediting when people don't like them but hate on the wrong things. I don't care for either group's music nor creative direction but if I was saying they can't dance or aren't pretty it'd be obvious lying. Even dissing Sakura is disingenuous the way people go about it. Duh she isn't a vocalist but she doesn't actively take you out of a song the way another member can. Just not being a good singer isn't actually a disqualifier in K-pop.

Going off of her past comments, it matters to her. She wouldn't be providing as many "spiteful" songs towards haters and naysayers if she genuinely didn't care. With that said I don't think that these 4 new tracks were offensive enough to warrant the backlash they are getting. Cancelled is right there, like there are bigger fish to fry that were on the actual album.
