Madonna - what went wrong?

Featured Replies

There's nothing wrong with Madonna. The music is fine. Whoever takes care of the vocals production though... I hate how muffled her voice sounds on the new records. I need me some clear vocals. She hasn't served those since 2015.

why do y'all still expect good music from someone who didn't make any in like 15 years ?

Why don't you take your own advice, apply it to Madonna, and shove it up your ass?

Didn't read any of this because everything she's been doing so far, I've been impressed with. This era seems to care-free, Queer, and fun. Nothing serious or deep except her continuous advocacy for LG

Her first mistake is calling it Confessions II, she really set herself up with that.

COTDF is a classic album, and not likely able to be repeated. People obviously gonna expecting the dance pop excellence from its successor. And it back fired, song after song she previews get people doubt about it more. The brilliance just not existed, and her voice is just sounded weird.

If she releases it under different project name, it would likely be acknowledged more

Also, her promo with grindr app annoyed many gay men than anything, some even likened it as to when U2 putting that one album into everyone's iPhones and iTunes.

Lotta people really mean "the last time she released a popular album was 20 years ago" lol.

Don't tell me LAV is a better album than Confessions 2 will be. rip 'Cuz I bet it's not. But she was 25 and everything she touched was a hit.

BYL and Love Sensation are easily both dance hits. Ghosttown would have been a smash if she was 20 years younger.

why are yall acting like these three songs already aren't miles better than anything on madame x or rebel heart

Gay stans just fell for the pr stunt of calling it Confessions 2.

So far it's ok but it's missing singles tbh. Everything sounded like an album track

I do not think they are "miles" better than anything on Madame X or Rebel Heart.

EXACTLY, so why does she keep acting like she's in her 20s?

That latest concert performance is so stomach churning. Someone tell her that Legends at her age don't need to embarrass theirselves like that skull

Madonna could release an album of pots and pans clanking and she would still be the legend of pop. Let's not get it twisted.

Nothing's gone wrong, thank you! A smashing discography of classics that keeps growing and becoming even more iconic as the years go by AND she's delivering a cutting edge MAIN POP GIRL era at 67!! It's jaw-dropping, and the latest song she just released is a fantastic, heartfelt bop!

If you don't like it?! Guess what? She has 40 years of material for you to explore or re-listen to. Everybody wins, especially Mother! heart2

I dont think the music is failing
Lately people are uninterested about every single pop release lmfao
When was the last time someone praised a pop single to death-like it was the best thing ever? Yeah! Crickets.

Calling this project CONFESSIONS II with no Hung Up 2 up her sleeve and no one to fix/adjust her horrible vocals... was very brave of her

ill just say that

Angel is THAT *****. My point tho is that everyone overplays it like Madonna never made a bad song before 2008 and all she's made are bad songs since 2008.

Just not true. IFSF is way better than Pretender, Over and Over, Jimmy Jimmy, Love Makes the World Go Round...

If her newer songs were more popular people would think way more highly of them.

I really feel she has lost her mojo after 2007.

She still manage to create good songs, but nothing hits as hard as her 1982-2005 catalog.

Her new music is good but the vocal production is questionable. I feel like it's on purpose but i don't get why...

Agreed it's funny this all happened after her divorce from Guy who I've could of sworn she said he was holding her back, her creativity, but I haven't seen much since then. However, I will give the new album a chance maybe the material on it is much better. But I can't get over the fact she has access to some of the best producers, and this is what he gets Stuart was always mid they lucked out the first time especially with its success.

She would've been better off going the Ray of Light or Something to Remember path which also would've fit better in terms of her stage performances and had an overall appeal. No matter how much she wants people will never be embracing of an older woman who is prancing around on stage being over sexual and doing dance tracks, it's just one barrier she will never break down so it all feels like it's in vain.

I would take Pretender or Angel any day over her current stuff which happens to be two of my favorites, there much catchier. Yes, she has made bad songs before but this consistently.

I don't get that either not every gay man likes Madonna, and she has a large fanbase outside of the gay community why are they being so heavily ignored, it's one of the reasons why people think Madonna is just an artist who appeals to gays when she had mass appeal.

is this why Madonna's streams are so low? Maybe you should mobilize

They are? Her streams are greatly increasing.
