Ariana was on a trajectory to end up here, not sure what's going on with her but I think she needs a break and to recover/heal. Taylor's record has some fantastic songs but yes, as a body of work it didn't live up to the presentation or claims she made. Since it's so short there really isn't much opportunity to chop and change it like you could with Lover.

Given she scrapped a heap of stuff for Positions because of its lukewarm reception, I doubt it. She probably won't invest much more into the album, outside of what she'd already created or paid for prior to today. She seems really sensitive to how albums are received and does pull back a lot if the reception doesn't meet her expectations.

This is such a fantastic pop song but, like everything on Smile, it suffered from really bad packaging in the whole clown/circus aesthetic (and a weird title track/lead single)

That was my issue with hate that I made you love me. It starts off very strong, but by the middle of the first chorus it loses momentum and I don't want to keep listening. It also just feels like another reduction of the music she first started making with sweetener, like this particular sound of hers has been filtered and reduced so many times in almost 10 years that it's now anaemic.

I remember during TLOAS there was basically no "free" release day in the four weeks around the date she chose. Also, she likely has to schedule in media and promo well ahead of time. She's not adjusting her whole promotional and release schedule because some gays online want their flop fave to chart at number 10 instead of 11.

I'm bad because I always want to go below the belt even if if it's disproportionate to what the person said or did to me. But then I'm the bad guy chun li so I shut up and let them keep running their mouth and looking a mess.

I've not seen Sabrina's or Rihanna's videos (I don't even know the Sabrina song lmao) but I'd put Bad Romance first. I don't think it's a particularly amazing song and that album/EP/deluxe/reissue/whatever the f*ck she wants to call it this week has better tracks, but the video is objectively fantastic and many consider it to be her artistic and visual peak.

I warmed up to hate that I made you love me but I cannot get into it after the first bit of the chorus, the first verse/prechorus is really good (flowers from a tomb etc) but it just loses me and meanders afterwards. I loved yes, and from day one even when everyone hated it!
