The song and its message are very dated, I don't see the young generation relate to those lyrics

True blue is definitely seen as the peak of that but like a prayer was her first proper attempt to show that she was a "serious" pop star and critics love all that (these are not my opinions btw, I tend not to like the critic bait albums so much anyway)

I think True Blue was the album that started to make her credible and took her to the superstar level! Also creatively was her first album with her creative direction and songwriting, during self titled and LAV she only had half of the albums input

Among Madonna's 80s classic, this is easily my least favourite, her voice is just unpleasant in this

Her 90s hits deserve better. She already has a lot of her 80's hits doing good. They kind of cannibalize each other and Like a Virgin was left behind.

But it's her 90's hits that are just ridiculous. Take a Bow...Frozen...Ray of Light...Beautiful Stranger...also Music from 2000. It's literally the best selling single from 2000 like

Ironically, Sorry, a song that wasn't even a hit in the USA is doing much better than you would expect. Shows how being global sometimes can be your biggest triumph.

I love Madonna's first album. It deserves more too. It is like a time capsule of that time to me (not that I was born then, but still).

I feel like that's the thing: when you release a lot of material in your prime and after, some songs get lost in the shuffle. I am surprised that Music (song) has barely cracked 100m. That song is still fresh to me and is more modern than the early days. I guess you never know what will get picked up.
