It sucks because the song still holds up. With a few tweaks, I think it could be a hit today. The case of Madonna's streams is very strange.

That's definitely part of it. I wonder if because she had the audacity to age, her catalog hasn't had the reappraisal and recognition some other legends have had. She and Janet are literally the last major ones from their pop era still alive. Madonna's career is nowhere near as underrated as Janet's, but I think because neither of their lifework is finitely over and tied with a neat bow at the end, the public isn't as receptive to them. There is a view that stuck about Madonna for her previous RH and MX releases: that she is dragging out her glory days, which aren't there for the white old-time rockers. They are allowed to simply release whatever they want without the pressure of having to live up to past success or heights. The double standard is atrocious, but it's there nonetheless.

Not to go too off-topic, but I really think her entire catalog is strangely underrated. Even her 80s eras don't get their due credit. Or the albums/singles, like Music, that were huge hits at the time; the streams don't reflect that. Maybe that's the curse of being alive.

I'm not trying to be shady, but the streams of her 90s albums are really shocking. Not even ROL crossing 500m totals is very strange. I hope this song gets more viral and picks up steam for the entire album. It's really amazing, and this is probably my favorite song from BS.

The fact that none of Madonna's 90s albums have crossed the 500m mark on Spotify is a real shocker. I listen to them regularly. I hope her biopic goes through somehow and she gets the recognition she deserves. C2 is a good start but only scratched the surface.

The fact that this album stayed on the chart at all for over a month is a success as far as I'm concerned. Most expected it to fall off completely after week one but it didn't.

It's clear the difference it makes when Madonna is inspired and when she was under contract for a 360 deal. So glad she got out of this. It's obvious to see what she was talking about on her previous albums, looking back on it, of the effect of "writing camps" and such on her work. I am really happy that she pushed through and I get to experience a real Madonna era.

Might've been mentioned before, haven't read this whole thread, but does anyone else think Madonna mentioning "this thing called life" (in fragile) was a nod to Prince?

I really liked her cover of Bringing on the heartbreak from this album. It's one of my favorite Mariah covers, randomly.

I absolutely hate it that she is not getting her flower by the public while still alive. It irks me greatly. On the other hand, I feel like Janet has given up in a way. I don't see a drive or passion from her to curate/promote her past catalog (even by keeping it up-to-date as you noted in your post). Or to release new music. Ugh. It is what it is at this point. Regardless, Janet gave us greatness for all those who search for it.

Well, the album track isn't there yet, so the point still stands in a way. I didn't realize there was a single version. Makes sense. Still, it'll look good on her page when it officially passes 200m. I am sick of people trying it with Ms Jackson.

RE: riaa recertifications Sadly I don't think her catalog has been moving much in numbers in the past years since then to warrant new certifications. Her streaming isn't great, and I haven't seen Janet on the vinyl records/pure sales chart that would indicate she is selling physically or digitally.

I really slept on A4Y era for a long time. So many bops on here. It holds up shocking well. So glad she has another 100m streamed song under her belt. She deserves it.

Im really enjoying her new DRM remix. Janet should pull an Elton and remix her old songs in new ways. especially if she doesn't want to release a new album ever again. Probably a lot cheaper to do as well.

I just bought the c2 cd, and i don't even have a cd player (already got vinyl). I am so thrilled for her. This really has been amazing for me as a fan of the 80s trinity legends. Woohoo. Madonna's whole catalog has gotten a great boost of millions from this release, too. Hopefully a usa certification is in reach!
