"Mr Valentine" this is sexy spy music

Donna would be so proud MR VALENTINE OOO OOO OOO AHHH

I'm gonna be bold and say that as a whole, this might be the best out of her disco trilogy, although not as instant as the previous two. To me it feels she has been gradually evolving her sound into a certain direction since (and including) WYP, and this is the final form.

It feels classy and luxurious, like a classic '70s disco diva album. Also her vocals have never sounded better!

I really get what she was going for with this, but for me it's just very whelming

Don't You Know Who I Am, Sauna (+ Chariots), and Mr Valentine are brilliant, with the DYKWIA being a career highlight!

But other than these and Ride, the rest of the album just isn't hitting like WYP and TFG did (and I love TFG, unlike a few people it seems)

Hope it grows superblooms!

If this was released in 2020, people would be gagging, if WYP? was the one released today, people would complain saying she's making the same type of music since 2020. C'mon now, if she hadn't released the two previous albums, I'm sure she would not be getting the negative response she's getting from the critics and from some normal people. And they would say her voice had a downgrade. lol

when is reality, saying this is redundant to, especially "the same as", WYP? is as nonsensical as people who used to say Lana makes the same album over and over again. Some similarities, sure, SB and WYP? are not very similar at all. It's closer to T!FG! than anything.

Sauna really is a 10/10 bop but does anyone know what "I need a wood-chopping, God-given love" means

I'm about to start listening, but I can't bare all of these wackadoodle theories for why people aren't allowed to think this project isn't as strong as previous efforts

Everyone is allowed to enjoy or not enjoy this project. Why is that so hard to accept?

Very happy the majority of the "she only releases the same stuff each time" crowd have been quieted upon the release of this excellent album because this is how it felt in here in the lead up to this coming out.

Its really a stellar piece of work

Try to give it listen in this order, for me it works the best, opening with Superbloom and ICGUTT of the lush 70s almost acoustic soul, going into more uptempo disco tracks (Mon Amour and DYKWIA) where first electro 80s synths and baselines are introduced and then into heavy synth Sauna + Ride, moving into very uptempo Mr.Valentine where little laser psychedelic elements are at the end moving into No Consequences which follows the 70s feel, back to midtempo Automatic, slowing down to Love For You and close it with ballad 16 Summer.

listened again and still don't like it

Sauna was my fave at the listening party in February and to finally be able to play it on repeat

very good album, another good one for her! Jessie is just that girl forever!

I like the album, it's not that far from TFG musically, but interludes are definitely interrupting the flow of the album and are not needed. I actually hate them.

I think she means she needs a man who is manly (wood-chooping) and who is heavenly/divine/perfect (God-given)

Kinda funny word choice though because in the first stanza, she said the sauna is made of cedar, so is this man about to chop up the sauna and wrest her out of there? lol
