Mon Amour lowkey SOTY

Masterpiece. This and Kacey's upcoming albums will probably be my most-played ones for this year. Sauna is SOTY (surprised it isn't a James Ford production and that Danny Parker and Shungudzo aren't really present throughout the record)

Speaking of WYP Platinum Pleasure I do need her to find a way to sneak Pale Blue Light onto a tour setlist already.

I enjoyed this a lot, though I didn't really feel like any songs quite reached the heights of her last couple albums. Still, it's easily her most soulful and groovy album and I definitely hear the Minnie Riperton influence. Think my favs are the title track, Sauna, Mr Valentine, and Mon Amour.

Random thoughts...The last 40 seconds of Mr Valentine and the bridges of Don't You Know Who I Am and No Consequences are fantastic. The chorus of Mon Amour is transcendent. Love Coleman Domingo but not a fan of his intro on Automatic at all. I Could Get Used to This and Ride are two songs I don't really care for, they feel like generic Jessie Ware. 16 Summers is nice and she sounds great but it sticks out majorly on the album, and I cannot understand why that wasn't the closer.

Unsurprisingly, another absolutely incredible album from Jessie. I will say, this is the album I can see why someone wouldn't like it so much if they enjoyed WYP and/or TFG. She goes HARD on wearing those 70s influences on her sleeve without doing much to modernize the sound, even in small ways, outside of songs like Ride. Personally, I love that and the unabashed wearing-influences-on-your-sleeve approach is one of my favorite aspects of WYP in particular. But I see why other people may not gel with Jessie almost blending into the background on some of these songs.

I don't think there's any bad songs here. It does make me laugh that she held herself back on two albums from doing her favorite hammy Celine/Barbra style ballad that she had to add one here in 16 Summers But it's still good; better than a comparable song like Sam.

Don't You Know Who I Am / Ride / Sauna / Mr Valentine are probably the quad-rinity for me, whew. I'm glad I saved Automatic for the album- that's another great one that I'm surprised people didn't seem to like when it came out.

I also don't really agree with the sequencing/tracklist issues? Obviously it's personal preference, but I kinda hate when an album does the obvious "slap the ballad at the end" like the OG 4 tracklist was so much more fun with 1+1 opening and RTW closing. Though perhaps they could have moved around the heavier songs instead of being back-to-back in the middle.

I love the album, just adjusted the track-list order and it flows much better

The finished version elevates the album so much! The instrumentals sound way more full and rich, but I don't like what it's done to her voice on Don't You Know Who I Am tho, on the leaked version is way more in your face, which is exactly what the song demands, it's good to hear more elements on the instrumental, but her voice should've stayed as the main character on the song.

Mother deserves all the love and the flowers, cause she did 3 amazing albums in a row. I'm gonna think about some better things to talk about this project later, but all I can say is that I am more than happy with it. Simply amazing. What she did it's a rare accomplishment nowadays.

And I'm giggling a little bit with the fact that the album intro was clearly supposed to be followed by the title track, but they sneaked the lead single between them two. 😂😂😂

I agree, the leaked, not final master mix, in some cases worked because the voice was sitting bit on top of the instrumental which gave it live feel and authenticity, but its just a minor thing

Oh, that's interesting. I agree that Superbloom should have been Track 2 and ICGUTT as Track 3.

I know for sure that superbloom (the album) feels like a full circle moment for Jessie and Jack, since they are old times friends, she worked as a backup singer for him, caught attention, got her a deal, if I'm not mistaken, both of them worked on Ceremonials by Florence + the Machine, Jessie is credited as Jesse Ware on the backing vocals of a lot of tracks on it. lol

And following the queen for quite a while now, I remember one interview where Jessie said that after she released "Overtime" back in 2018, Florence texted her saying that Overtime made her want to dance at a gay club. And the rest was herstory

The only song I like less is Love You For and it's still a gorgeous song.

Superbloom, Ride, Mr Valentine, Mon Amour and Sauna are my clear top 5.

I Could Get Used To This and Automatic grow massively in the album context (still weird single choices tho). Don't You Know Who I Am and No Consequences are great too. 16 Summers is an exquisite ballad, lush and classy. Her voice is out of this world.

This album is basically a 5/5, I love it so so much and I will be blasting it throughout the year.
