Are you aging gracefully?

Featured Replies

As inspired by Troye Sivan's twink death essay, I can't help but wonder if this forum, which is full of aging gays in their 20s and 30s (i'm not gonna namedrop but some are even pushing 40s), can age like fine wine? And will you consider taking any supplements, doing some minor fine-tuning on your face, getting on the turkish airlines and even more? Do you consider yourself aging gracefully?

not planning to get any work done, i get body horror from seeing everyone's bad filler and i know in the future people will see overdone, swollen faces as completely ridiculous, the same way we view powdered wigs now. a natural look is much more timeless

I think so but it's mostly because of gens, I gotta start taking care of my skin tho.

I took this pottery class that was held in my local community college and these two girls in my table conversed with me and told me they thought I was 21(I'm 33)

I think so. I have good hair genes from my father's side, and I'm praying I get the skin from my mother's family. My oldest aunt is turning 69 and she barely has any wrinkles deadbanana2

I do smoke a bit and don't use sunscreen as much as I should though, so I need to change that.

I still look 21 years old giraffe

I drink water, do my nightly skincare routine (most of the time), and I use sunscreen, also, I love jogging so I keep myself active. Thankfully the men in my family keep their hair so I won't be visiting Türkiye anytime soon

I'm 28 in grad school and have been mistaken for an undergrad before on my campus bird I also recently lost a bunch of weight so that helps in general too

I mean... I still get carded whenever I buy a lottery ticket or go into a casino so I guess I'm doing all right lmao

I think so. A while back this woman at work asked how old I was and I said I was 29 and turning 30 in like a week and she was really surprised because she thought I was 20.

I have been taking care of my skin since I was in high school. And I do Botox for crows feet and forehead. Other than that I just do facials and occasionally micro needling and laser treatments.

when I get old I'd love to do a phenol peel. Have you seen those? They're so intense but they look so much more natural than a facelift especially for men.

I also want a fat graft under my eyes and to fill out my cheeks. lol but no. I don't care about aging gracefully. I love body modifications and I love body autonomy and I love beauty standards and it does give you confidence.

mostly? very thin wrinkles, I'm doing fractional laser from time to time, I use sunscreen 365 (it's mostly sunny in Greecadelphia), and maybe I'll have a tiny procedure to erase the puffiness from under the eyes

Apparently. I'll be 40 this year and get mistaken for mid 20s quite regularly. Doesn't matter though. I give it a few more years and my entire face will be CRACKED. It's inevitable. cm

Everyone ages. Given the state of the world and everything happening in it, I actually consider it a massive privilege to be given the opportunity to grow old and I embrace / hope for it fully (and I don’t consider myself “old” yet at 32.. maybe 60s is starting to get old) because truly, not everyone gets to.

I’m not super concerned with looking super young because it’s a bit of a losing battle / waste of money / investment at some point isn’t it? Unless you have some kind of livelihood attached to it I don’t get it.

Also, I don’t think it’s super healthy to do fancy things for the purpose of “looking” young. Being healthy and working out so you’re around and strong to take care of yourself, your loved ones, and your friends. Actually I think just being healthy / not drinking / drugs / wearing sunscreen is being an inexpensive way to age quite gracefully on the outside ans a side benefit and you don’t really have to do more.

I remember someone asking this on a public Facebook post and everyone bragging about looking like they were in their 20s but then you see the profile Pic and all the comments underneath and everyone making fun saying they look their age or older than their age. So I will take these responses with that in mind.

I look my age when I have facial hair and three years younger when I don't, so I guess yes!

A guy I work with told me I've aged better than any other white guy he's ever met. It's a mix of genetics & lifestyle. Beyond skin care, I never ever eat meat. I'm pescatarian. All the guys I know that were drinking protein shakes at 18 looked like they sold insurance to support their wife & 3 kids by the time they were 22. The waif look ages a lot better than the meathead 1

I never had a drink or a cig / joint until I was 21 (5 years ago), and I take care of my mental + physical health so that certainly has made me look my age still. I'm also a Latino w strong genes x
