After - "Fell Asleep In The Sun"
looking forward to this! They really nailed that nostalgic early 2000s sound without it feeling so... "try-hard" or disingenuous like other artists have attempted before.

Have you ever bought a variant and why?
There was a time back in the day when I did. K-pop and j-pop conditioned me since the early 2000s to buy variants lol I'd get the CD, CD+DVD, CD+photobook, CD+whatever bonus material. With western artists though I haven't. The only time I will buy a "variant" (if it can even be considered that) is if it's an anniversary edition released years later that has bonus/unreleased tracks.

Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
Part 3 is going to be so damn fun. We're going into the messy parts of Ayu's career now and some choice words will be said

Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
HEAVEN, BRILLANTE, and November deserved better tho. I won't forget this injustice y'all gave these songs.

Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
She really needs to bust out that airship from storage again because THAT? That was such an iconic moment for Mirrorcle World. I repeat: SHE HAS A MF-ING AIRSHIP. THAT'S ICONIC AF.

Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
STEP you is THE quintessential Ayu song tho so i'm rooting for her!
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
i'm pretty surprised Mirrorcle World made it to the end. I vaguely remember the full song didn't quite hit the fandom as much as the intro version did at the time of its release

Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
is this GOD? top 3?!?! omg
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
The video for GREEN would've been a perfect 10 if only the dancer turned her head at the same time as Ayu but the delay was so obvious it dropped the quality of the video.
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
Ayu has always been a little deranged and that's what we love her for
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
oh she was PISSED at the music industry with alterna and you can tell. TELL THEM OFF QUEEN.
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
Ladies Night still sounds so fresh even to this day what a classic
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
it always amazes me how ayu can release such an aggressive symphonic rock track like talkin 2 myself and then a sugary typical jpop song like glitter the next and both still feel authentically like herself. She really could do it all tbh
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
Ugh i was hoping a top 5 placement for this legendary track
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
the music video really sells the song for me tbh. i love when ayu gets a little twisted in the head and aggressively hates herself lmao

Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
BRILLANTE missing top 10....
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
I totally forgot she actually MARRIED the guy and he wasn't just some rebound lmao Americanized Ayu was so messy. I even remember her Facebook profile picture was a close up shot of her bum
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
the quality of that top 30 sad to see Days out tho :(
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
SLT is one of those songs you just have "to get". If you don't then it's not for you and if you do, then it's a solid track. I can appreciate the song but it's not something i can listen to regularly.

Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
November out already? sometimes i question y'alls taste...
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
What I will say is that even ayu's worst song is still at least a 7/7.5 compared to other artists. Like comparing to herself, it's bad but it's still a serviceable pop song as a whole. Which really speaks to her artistry tbh (I WILL be challenging this opinion of mine however when we reach her AI era)

Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
It's actually kind of funny how Ayu's interludes are longer than most modern pop songs
-
Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
ahhh i love when i spot another ancient AHS-er. We were THE go to forum for jpop tbh (more so than JPOPMUSIC imo)

Ayumi Hamasaki: The Rate - Part II - THE finale
I have so much nostalgia for Beautiful Fighters. It was the song that got my best friend into jpop back in the day as well. I do wish the "demo"/earlier version from the Panasonic commercial with its rock influence would've been released instead tho
