You're all so defeatist. Everyone agrees Mayhem has a good shot at AOTY and she has a good shot at ROTY too. Will she win? Maybe and maybe not grammy voting is messy but even the way the votes usually split harm other artists more than her. I'm not counting her out of either award but i'm also not assuming she will win them just because she deserves them.

That's kinda crazy, but it also made sense it got into MAYHEM, Gaga was working with the album when they worked that song together.

She probably thought it's not as suitable as Happy Mistake for Harlequin but the song is too good to not be released.

I suspect either Gaga or Interscope is not comfortable to launch her new pop era with a ballad so they dropped it in August to test the water. If it flops, it won't hurt her new era anyway. Then it became a smash hit and the rest is history.

The way they've hated her since 2011, I just know they hate when she's A-listed on their own station

She contributed immensely and had every right to claim the song for Mayhem.

Also, it's pretty much confirmed that Bruno had always intended for DWAS to be on some Gaga album, making its inclusion on MAYHEM even more organic.

Though, I can't believe DWAS was almost completely wasted on JFAD OST/Harlequin dddd

An alternative timeline where DWAS ended up on on a JFAD-related project is wild Just for fun, let's see how it would've played out if DWAS ended up on Harlequin instead of Mayhem (I don't want to entertain the idea of it ending up on the JFAD OST, but everything I'm saying here would also apply to that scenario as well):

• Since DWAS was doing 150k-200k per week in the US at this point, then Harlequin would've opened with 40,000-45,000 units in the US instead of the 25,000 it actually did. Still not enough to top the chart (Short n Sweet did 100,000 that week) but it would've charted higher than 20.

• Mayhem would have still topped the Billboard 200 (its vinyl sales alone were enough).

• Harlequin would be at 800k-850k units in the US right now. Mayhem would be at 900k-950k units in the US right now. Both albums would go platinum early next year.

• Harlequin probably would still be charting on the Billboard 200 solely from DWAS. Mayhem would still be charting on the Billboard 200 as well. This results in Harlequin being Gaga's longest-charting album since ASIB in this scenario. Eventually, it would surpass BTW to be her longest-charting solo album since The Fame

• Since Mayhem and Harlequin would still be charting now, Gaga would've already cleared 1,000 total weeks on the Billboard 200.

All things considered, I'm glad that DWAS ended up on Mayhem though. The idea of Harlequin opening with 143-level numbers with DWAS would be worse than anything that actually happened during the JFAD era (even if it has good numbers in the long run). Mayhem would still be a platinum #1 album without DWAS, so I'm glad that its numbers can go towards making Mayhem as big as possible.

She released love for sale in 2021 and harlequin a year ago

And even though JFAD turned out to be a complete bomb, the fact that DWAS (and Harlequin) wouldn't have happened without it makes it a net positive in my opinion.

Imagine the lashings if jazz album Harlequin was perpetually hovering over pop album Mayhem all year on the BB200

Or if jazz album Harlequin became her most successful album on the BB200 since ASIB before pop albums Chromatica and Mayhem

I also think DWAS being attached to JFAD would have hurt its momentum and it likely wouldn't have ever became a mega smash. All things considered, we got the best case scenario.

Even after its GRAMMY nomination, I can't be bothered with HarleBOMB. I can't even imagine a world where DWAS is thrown onto that mess.
